Addendum: This was posted in response to the OP implying everyone has to use Lockdown Mode nowadays. He since changed its post.

Why would protecting our devices with the highest standards accessible disallow us from using Roon? I do not get your answer. Roon is the first app which does not work, and I can still access my network on several ports.

I can stream music but not play it locally, strange.

Just open a ticket towards roon. They will tell you :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, I can’t see in which section a question is posted, so I thought it was in the correct one. Sure, will do it right away.

Go to their main site roon.app, scroll down to the bottom. Press “Contact” :slightly_smiling_face:

Don’t be surprised, your ticket will then show up in their forum. That’s the roon way

Or go to the Support category of the forum and click Get Help

Locking down a machine means that things are not allowed by the OS that normally would be - and that’s because they are sometimes necessary (otherwise, the OS simply wouldn’t have those in the first place. There’s a reason why lockdown mode is not the default.).

Being a server application that runs on the LAN and needs to be able to discover and communicate with other machines on the same network, Roon requires permissions that other, simpler apps don’t. If lockdown mode allowed those, it would be quite useless.

Done! I just opened a proper support topic with all the details here: Roon client on macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 can’t play locally with Lockdown Mode.

Just to clarify: it’s the Mac client that’s affected by Lockdown Mode, not the server. And interestingly, my iPhone and iPad both have Lockdown Mode enabled and work perfectly fine with Roon.

Thanks for the nudge :slightly_smiling_face:
