Roon Radio is playing prohibited songs unexpectedly (ref#AEMM51)

Please also see my original ticket on this issue. I have used Roon Radio every day since the launch of the new release and i still experience this every day/session.

The actual song that is played is always from Tidal/Qobuz and not banned in this album while the banned song is always from my Local file. My understanding is that Roon should check across both streaming services and local for banned instances of the same track , iow one ban should be sufficient . Ref. text below on this.

I have more pictures of this if You need for investigation. TimeStamp in filename (Oslo-Time). Actual profile upper right.

Please also note that the Daily Mixes still presents songs that is banned , either on song or artist level or both. In this case it is the actual banned track that is added to the Daily Mix.
See example below , also here i have more pictures/examples.

Hi @Einar_Torshaug,

Are any/all of the tracks you’ve indicated in your screenshots above Favorited in another Roon profile?

For the affected Zone in screenshot #1, _B S_1Etg+2, how did you initiate Roon Radio? Was it from the Album page shown, or elsewhere? We want to ascertain the seed track.

Hello
For the Radio example above this track of Melissa Etheridge is loved in another profile (Ref. Tag “EinarRock”). Radio was started from Artist , Heather Nova.
Please note that there are also cases where the track are put into Radio that is banned in all profiles (Tag is in this case “Banned_T”).

For the Daily Mix example above, all tracks are loved artists/tracks in Einar profile but banned in Bodil(wife) profile as shown.

FYI ; I have another Roon Server where the majority of the Library is streaming (400 from Tidal vs 30 Local Tracks). This Server has only one Roon profile connected to a Tidal account that has the same music profile. I only have a few months of history with this and not much listening since it is really “Wife-Out-of-House” music and not suited as background music when working.
Here i have not seen Radio pushing banned songs but when checking the Daily Mixes now there are artist added that i have banned ; Leo Sayer. Seems like Roon needs quite some time/playing over time to adapt/learn - and/or a lot of banning. Please let me know if You want me to do some testing in this environment as well.

Updated information #1:
Suddenly today Roon Radio wont play with Tidal/Qobuz when started from Artist. Just after starting the Radio it pop’s up with the message “Nothing Similar Found: Limiting Roon Radio to Library”. This happens on two of the profiles while two other profiles works fine.
… and , No the Artist was not Spooky Tooth :ghost:

Edit: Starting from album of the same artist works. I Have booted Server.

Updated information #2: Suddenly this works again. Have done nothing here , not even closing the Roon Remote on the Windows PC.

// I assume that the Banning and Daily Mix stuff is running in the cloud and code changes related to this does not require update of Roon Server/Client. Just curious. .

Which artist did you start radio on?

Del Amitri , though i also tried Blues Brothers and Aerosmith on the Einar profile. Bodil and 2000s Profile worked fine all the time.

Note i just updated my post above , since it is suddenly working again now. “the Ghost has left the building” .

This is generally the case - yes.

There was a persistent bug on bans cloud-side that was resolved today. Not sure why you’d get the Nothing Similar Found today but perhaps it was local to you or something intermittent.

If you see further issues with banned content sneaking through don’t hesitate to update here - bans should be respected cloud-side within 24hr of the ban being applied.

I still have banned tracks in my Radio. Use case is same as before, iow the track played is from streaming and not banned while the local track is banned . The actual tracks are loved in another profile (Einar).

Please also note that the Daily Mixes i get still includes banned tracks.

Edit
Please note that the banning of these tracks was done before the introduction of banning of non-library tracks. Could it be that when releasing the latest version with banning the already banned tracks was not scanned through properly to update metadata across all albums with that track - for all profiles of a user with different banning/loving depending on profile . . .
/Edit

As-of-now i am doubling up on the banning by adding them to the streaming version with highest quality as well.
// I really want this to work …

Se PRTSRN’s below for Radio

Yeah unfortunately there was a regression yesterday while I was fixing a bug introduced in the first fix for the longstanding bug in bans handling cloudside. I’d introduced another bug and it was looking at an incomplete list of your bans. Neither heart nor bad company were in your bans as the cloud ‘knew’ it before I deployed the fix for this new bug - so radio was doing the ‘right’ thing.

I triggered a re-processing of your profile cloud-side and confirmed that both Heart and Bad Company are in your bans now. There’s some lag as we cache your bans on radio - but soon radio will see them and they’ll be respected.

Appreciate the eyes on this again!

Thanks,
Nathan
