Roon Remote updated but Nucleus stuck on 2.0 version (ref#O7K91A)

Hey @John_Pluta,

Thanks for the screenshot! To confirm, after restarting your Roon Sever, do the tracks still show up as corrupt under your skipped files?

It sounds like you might not be running into issues based on the above comment - are you all properly sorted at this point?

You can perform a library clean up under your Roon Settings>Library that will remove any skipped or corrupt files, but I’d first want to confirm you have all your tracks properly recognized before any additional edits.

Let me know your status - thank you! :raised_hands:

I still have a question or two. I am getting another Roon server error log today. Now I lost my internet connection yesterday for 15 minutes or so. Would that cause it? I also tried to do a library clean up like Benjamin said, but I couldn’t do it. Some files disappeared but most skipped files are still there. Can I use anything else besides Dropbox for backups?

Hi @John_Pluta,

It’s definitely possible a temporary network outage could trigger an error, depending on what the server was trying to do at the time. To say for sure, we’d need to see the specific error message. If you can share that with us, we can take a closer look.

Just to clarify—was the cleanup failure related to the same error you mentioned earlier? And did Roon show any error messages during the process? That info will help us understand what’s going on.

Absolutely. You can use any local or networked storage device that your Roon Server can access. That includes USB drives, NAS devices, or folders shared over your home network. For more info on setting that up, you can check out this article. Let us know if you need help configuring it!

I tried to delete my skipped files. Some of them disappeared but I still have these left.

I am also still getting this error when I click about.

Lastly, when I click on an album with a lot of tracks, I get this.
Too many tracks stopping playback. What is going on? Am I going to have to download Roon again? I tried that now I can’t get rid of the extra file.

Hi @John_Pluta,

If you’re having issues updating your Nucleus - you can access the webUI of the Nucleus via a web browser and perform an OS reinstall that will install the latest version. Here’s more info on how to access the webUI:

You can also simply move the files to a different location, outside of your watched folder, and perform another clean up. That should take care of things for you there!

Let us know the specific album and track you attempt to play the next time this issue pops up and we’ll take a closer look. Thanks, John! :raised_hands:

How do I do this? Do I go into the Internal storage on my laptop?

Sorry the error was, Too many failures stopping playback. The album was Bach Btandenburg Concertos 29 tracks.

I downloaded to Nucleus and the PC and Nucleus are up to date. The skipped files still show 6 tracks from the Bruckner 4th.

Hey @John_Pluta,

Exactly - move the files somewhere outside of where you’ve set up your watched folder within Roon. Moving the files will occur completely outside of Roon.

Does this happen no matter the zone/end point you set up for playback? Does this happen no matter the file format you attempt to play?

We were able to review a fresh diagnostic report from your Roon Server, and saw playback failures relating to the below message:

message":"RAAT__OUTPUT_PLUGIN_STATUS_FORMAT_NOT_SUPPORTED","status":"UnexpectedError"}

On your PC running Roon remote - try the following:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

I wasn’t in Roon or in the Internal Storage folder. When I tried to change the name of the RAAT Server folder this is the screen I got. It would not let me change it.

Hi @John_Pluta,

You can always confirm Roon isn’t running via your windows Task Manager:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Look for Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe under the Processes tab.
  • If either is still running, right-click and select End Task.

See if this helps :slightly_smiling_face:

Things are ramping up now for the worst. First every time I try to right click on RAAT Server or use Task Manager to end the command it just pops up again showing that it is running! \Now the audio is screwed up, here is the screen.

Hardly surprising - if you have Roon running, that will start RaatServer as well. So close Roon and end Raatserver in Task Manager, if it is still running after Roon is closed.

So exiting out of Roon here is not enough to stop it from running? I also did what benjamin said, “Exactly - move the files somewhere outside of where you’ve set up your watched folder within Roon. Moving the files will occur completely outside of Roon” But the files are still there.
You’re not getting the point. I followed you instructions, how do you close Roon?

I think things are a bit better or I’m just accepting things.I was able to close Roon and even change the RAAT Server to RAAT Server_old.

The last thing I don’t understand. When I was out of Roon, I opened up Win Explorer and moved to my internal storage. In a separate area of my hard drive (laptop) I created a skipped music folder so I could copy the skipped files from internal storage to the new folder I created. Well after I did that for Tchaikovsky 4 and 5, Bruckner 4,7 and 9, Strauss Elektra and Strauss Tone Poems, and Shostakovich 5. When I reopened Roon all those skipped files were still in my Library section. Why don’t they go away from internal storage after I send them to the skipped music folder?

If it is impossible to get rid of those skipped files in my Library, I guess I’ll just have to leave them there. It looks like you can’t delete files in Internal Storage from my laptop?

If you copied, rather than moved, the files, they will still be in place.

I recommend check the internal drive to double if the those files are still present or not.

We might be getting somewhere, Carl. I moved the files enquestioned. I had to look up how to cut, pick a folder then paste it. Still have a question. They are no longer in my internal storage folder. So I open Roon and go to Settings, next the library and the skipped files line, there are the same 31 or so files still there. So I clicked the 3 dots all the way to the right. A message came up with something about the same folder. So I clicked on that message and about 24 files disappeared but these 7 are still there. Here is the screenshot.

Do I have to remove one of those pictures of albums in my Roon library? Any other ideas?
The files that I moved are no longer showing up in my pictures of covers in my Albums site.

I followed up with Carl’s directions and the files that I moved yesterday no longer show up in my internal storage file. Before typing this I checked my Library skipped files on Roon and yup there are about 30 some listed files there still. Now about that music I moved, could I ever add it back to my Nucleus again? So I guess I won’t be able to play that Tchaikovsky 4 cut on Nucleus ever again? Do I have to go back in ancient history and delete everything on my laptop? Because when I type in Roon on my laptop in Windows Explorer with doubled files I have about 224 listings. So I still need some help. See you next week after this weekend 04/26.

Hi @John_Pluta,

Thanks for all the updates!

After you relocate the files in question from your internal storage folder to a temporary place, I’d also perform a Library Cleanup to remove the files from your library in full.

Yes, you could always move it back into your watched folder and Roon will re-import them. But - if Roon is detecting they’re corrupt files, I’d use a third-party software to check the integrity of the files and see if you’re able to recover the corrupted files. Many users enjoy using dbpoweramp for this process.

Could you provide more information around this? What are you referring to when you say 224 listings?

Benjamin,
I don’t know how to show them all because of the numbers but here is a screen shot.
Also what is my watched folder? is that the same as my internal storage? I do appreciate everyone’s help, too bad I’m such a poor student. BTW, I just did an update on my nucleus UI. When I then went to the cleanup library for the 1st time instead of bringing up the box with 3 lines of file information. All 3 almost always 0 in each one. Today for the 1st time it showed 58 files and I hit yes to continue cleaning. But when I went back into the skipped files choice in the library they were all there again. Also all the skipped files show the same date 12 Jan 2025, is there something we could do by date?

Well something interesting just happened. I noticed in my Internal storage there was a file labeled Music with all the selections that were in my internal storage too. I took a shot and deleted that folder labeled music. Then I went back into Roon, then to the library and clicked on the skipped files…they were all gone!
