Hi @John_Pluta,
Can you post a screenshot of what your seeing.

Hey @John_Pluta,

Thanks for writing in! It does look like your Nuclesu is running an older build - 1496. If you’re having trouble getting the Nucleus to update from your Roon remote > about page, you can try reinstalling RoonOS from the Nucleus webUI. Here’s how to access it:

Let me know how it goes and if you have any additional questions along the way! :+1:

When I try to download Roon OS it just keep adding numbers at the end.

The Nucleus Web Administration Interface does not seem to be helping much.

Are you downloading this to your PC? If so, then you’re doing it wrong. You use the Web Administration Interface of the Nucleus to reinstall the Roon Operating System to your Nucleus by clicking the Reinstall button on the web page.

Hi, in order to offer better more targeted advice can you be more descriptive on what you seeing.
Screenshots often help.

Please use this help page for reference …

Once you have the Web Admin Page displayed on browser, click on:

  • “Operating System” reinstall.

Once completed, check on the Roon Server Version, and see if it’s still out of date or not.

If any errors or warnings are displayed during the process please capture them and post here.
Hope this helps.

Hello @John_Pluta,

Feel free to reach out here if you run into any issues after going through the guide that @Carl shared. If possible, please include a few screenshots of what you’re seeing and trying to do—this will help us better understand the situation and get things resolved more quickly.

Looking forward to your update!

Thanks to Geoff and following his instructions. Even with the Nucleus manual as big as it is it’s hard to remember all the little tricks about updating Roon and the Nucleus separately. Thanks.

If you are ever in doubt about what is current look in Software Release Notes, it’s pinned as No.1 all the time.

Hi @John_Pluta,
Just checking in — do you need any further help? We’re here if you have any more questions or run into issues!

Have one more question. I downloaded a music track to my laptop (remote). It shows up in my music folder and my internal storage folder. But when I go to Roon Nucleus and check on my tracks it doesn’t appear. Any answers?

Can you clarify what you mean by “It shows up in my music folder and my internal storage folder.”?

Is the “music folder” your Windows Music folder on your laptop? And by the “internal storage folder”, do you mean that your Nucleus has a 2.5" drive fitted to hold music files? Did you copy the music track from your laptop to the internal drive on the Nucleus?

A screenshot of Roon’s :gear: > Storage screen would be useful to show us what you have set up for your Watched Folders.

Here’s what I hope will clear up. In Roon language isn’t my laptop the Remote and my Nucleus the Server? OK in my laptop windows Explorer I have a music folder. I can click on the address bar and bring up my Internal Storage file which is a copy of what is on my Nucleus Server HDD. Now when I access my Nucleus under storage it shows Nucleus Internal Storage. Here’s the problem, when I go to my artist/album screen the track does not appear. Can’t figure it out.

Here’s the Roon Storage screen.

Right, so I think you have confirmed that you have copied the downloaded music file from your Windows Music folder to the Internal Storage folder of your Nucleus.

However, what I am seeing in that screenshot of the InternalStorage folder are a number of individual files, e.g. Rachaninov Plays His Concerto No. 2 (1929).... The thing is that Roon works on an album basis, i.e. it tries to identify known album releases by examining track files grouped in a folder.

Stray files at the top level folder of InternalStorage are not likely to be picked up at all and won’t appear in the Roon Library.

What you need to do is to create a folder (or folders), with a suitable name, and put these loose tracks into it. Roon will then create an album entry in the library using the folder name and display the tracks in the folder. It will still show the album as “Unidentified”, but at least it will be displayed in your library.

Here’s an example from my own library. I’ve recorded some tracks of my own using Cubase and put them in a folder called Cubase Pieces. I’ve used a metadata editor to number the tracks and add composers to the tracks, and this is the result:

PS, you wrote: “I can click on the address bar and bring up my Internal Storage file which is a copy of what is on my Nucleus Server HDD”. - It’s not a “copy” - Windows File Explorer is looking directly at the InternalStorage folder over the network…

Hey @John_Pluta,

Thanks for the update and additional information! @Geoff_Coupe has shared some helpful information above - especially when considering your long-term library management.

I’d be curious to see - if you head Roon Settings>Library>Skipped files, do you see any of your newly added tracks under your skipped files? If so, can you share a screenshot of what you see?

If you stop and restart your Roon Server, do you see your newly added tracks properly?

Thank you! :raised_hands:

benjamin & Geoff,
Here’s the screen shot. I have to tell you guys looking at data on my computer associated with the words skipped or missing puzzles me a bit.

OK now I will go downstairs today and listen to the file. It now shows up in Artist classification.
BTW, should I delete the skipped or corrupt file listing? Thank you for your help everybody!
