Roon ROCK & power cuts (/outages)

Roon ROCKi3 OS v1.0, Server Software v1.7

Wired via Cat5e

We had a power cut today and the NUC did not restart when the power came back on again. As I keep my NUC in the loft, access is not great, so is it possible to configure it to auto-start when power arrives?

TIA

Check in the bios for your NUC.

I have not tried it…but worth a shot.

Hi @Julian_Berry,

According to others on this thread, you can enable this feature in the BIOS:

Please do be aware that having power surges can cause issues with the database if Roon does not shut off in a proper fashion. I would advise keeping many Backups of your database if you live in an area prone to power issues (or purchase a UPS).

This is what I did. just hooked it up to a UPS to protect it and not need to get at it to turn it back on.

I can confirm, the BIOS setting works as intended. I enabled it… then on reflection disabled it again. YMMV depending on Core access and power reliability.

To set the Intel® NUC Mini PC to power on whenever a power source is connected:

  1. Press F2 on keyboard during start up to go inside BIOS
  2. Click Advance > Power > Secondary Power Settings > After Power Failure
  3. Select Power On under After Power Failure
  4. Press F10 on keyboard to save the changes and exit BIOS

Thanks everyone; I think I will play it safe and get a UPS; my Roon backups are on Dropbox, so that is safe at least.
