The last time I copied music files over the network to the SSD drive that is plugged to the Roon Rock was 2 months ago. Now I wanted to copy something onto it again (via SMB network access) and discovered that the mount (?) of the USB drive is now duplicated (same name with "-2" added).
It seems to be either a duplicate mount or a hard link, because when I copy a new file into one folder "xxx-p1", it also appears in the other "xxx-p1-2".
How can we help?
· How do I get rid of the redundant duplicate mount/hard link?
Describe the issue
Rock storage shows folders twice (added -2)
Describe your network setup
Roon Rock on Intel NUC 8i3 with external T7 SSD attached
The screenshot shows the result of the SMB mount: It is the directory structure of the ROCK.
But the ROCK now has 2 attached items under “Storage” as I described (but only one T7 SSD is attached).
I’m not the first with this problem - there are at least 2 similar questions here - but with no final fix.
Deleting and reinstalling the whole musiclibrary is not a satisfying solution for me.
This seems to be a Bug in the serversoftware.
Interesting. The first one had a few suggestions that didn’t involve deleting and reinstalling the whole library, so maybe that’s an option and maybe it helps. One would hope that Roon can give an update about the supposed fix from the second link. Good luck!
Some weird things happened along the way (couldn’t connect after reboot), but I can’t say for sure if it was my fault (held power button on NUC too long (?) → BIOS setup).
My cheat sheet for next time:
Remove folder from storage settings.
Stop server via UI (rock.local)
Turn off NUC.
Turn on NUC.
Re-add folder to storage settings.
I just wanted to add a single MP3 and it took me 3 hours of admin-recovery time.
