The the taking even longer since I switched to my backup core to test something out. It finds it at least but god it’s slow.
Up until an hour or so ago I was at least getting Juja Wang at the top of the drop down as in your screen shot. Literally as I was preparing my post that stopped happening. That must have had something to do with me adding Joanna Wang to my playlist at the time. I have now added Yuja Wang to my playlist and now Yuja Wang is again appearing at the top of my drop down as in your screenshot.
It looks like roon is trying to make searches more relevant in terms of play history but this sort of behaviour doesn’t look right to me.
What do you get if you do a search on just “Wang” and then click “more” in the artist section:
Yeah, the inconsistencies are what’s so weird, also see this new thread Yet more search weirdness
I have no straight “Wang” in my library at all (or in play history as far as I recall, certainly nothing much). Some of the more fuzzy results towards the end are related to my library: Gang Starr, Kool & the Gang, Gang of Four, Gang Gang Dance, Wu-Tang Clan, and Hansi Lang.
I can see the fuzzy relation for all results except “Sean Tyla”, don’t know who this is or what he has to do with Wang. He is a credit on some Joan Jett albums that I have in the library.
{I’m now a little in love with the Faye Wong picture}
A post was split to a new topic: Search categories for albums (most played or date added) bears no semblance of accuracy
Any news or updates to fix this bug?
I have to admit, I posted a similar issue in Support. The lag loading external data from Roon now is not really acceptable. It’s a Jekyll and Hyde experience at the moment… one minute ok then the next your waiting… waiting and waiting for thumbnails and data to enter the screen. My wired cat6a / fibre Network is fine with Qobuz & Auralic apps, it’s just Roon.
It’s about as nimble as container ship at the moment and I’m seriously considering picking up an Innuos server just to use their Sense app instead.
I have just got an Eversolo DMP A6 and the app is great to use, I was also totally fed up with how slow Roon is at times.
Shame as I love Roon overall
Yes, I really do like Roon but as it was, a great library that just worked. Now it’s become a source of irritation. I like the Auralic LDS app but the Innuos one has a tagging system which I do use a lot with Roon so it would make the transition away from Roon a bit easier. Of course, the ideal is Roon get their act together and produce something that works properly.
I hope so. I’m a lifetime subscriber and a Nucleus user and now it’s turned into crap software. I never expected this.
I am the same , lifetime subscriber and also bought the nucleus . I am sure it will get sorted in time but I’ve had these issues for over 2 months now so finally lost my patience .
I do feel the freezing and disconnecting from the roon remote app is happening less that it was ……here is hoping
Same here, Lifetime and NUC Rock. So yeah, they’ve taken my money so probably don’t really care that much.
But, it doesn’t take long before unhappy users spread the word amongst other forums as well… before you know it they’re no longer considered a premium product and new customers will look elsewhere. So yeah, they do need to sort it out.
I’ve also started closing the apps down which gives a short term boost… as does rebooting the Rock OS.
Can’t say I’ve experience this from my Nuc10 as a rock, or even while away using ARC.
Lol… I see my complaints about my system running slow have been dumped here along with others. Seems this thread is now the designated thread to dump all unhappy customers
@Carl Thanks but it wouldn’t be necessary if someone from Roon replied to my own post a few days ago. So yeah, if you’re looking to pee off a customer further then this seems a good thing to do. I think I should just take this as a sign to move on
2 months later - come on roon - tell us the truth - is there any chance to get the speed of the summer-version again without rebooting ?
So I just transferred my roon core to Apple M1 iMac and search is fixed. I was running roon rock intel nuc. I forgot what model it was but it used to work fine but lately noticed the fan was always running and felt hot all the time. Whatever was going on, something was wrong. I thought maybe issue with external hard drive was causing the problems but disconnected, search was still incredibly slow and even slow page loading.
So now that it’s on the iMac, The The search takes less than 2 seconds and everything loads up quick. Think my roon rock was being overworked and couldn’t handle simple searches. I originally got the roon rock because I was running oversampling and if did anything on the old intel iMac, it would stutter. But now think M1 iMac is more than capable on running unprocessed files to my Naim Uniti Atom HE.
NUCs notoriously suck dust into their fan and cooling path, causing the processor to go into thermal throttle. Careful disassembling and cleaning can address the problem.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll be sure to see if that’s the issue. Even though roon is running great on the iMac, I still like the concept of a dedicated server.
So even though search if much better I still notice a little lag when using “The” in the beginning of the search. Few searches took 15-20 and current haven’t hooked up my local drive, so all on streaming.
If you don’t mind, which M1 is it, 8 or 16gb ram and what size is your library? Cheers
Having similar slowdown problems with a Roon Rock NUC. Mine is in a fanless case
