Describe the issue
Used Roon many years; private windows network, RoonServer on NUC; several other remotes on different machines continue to work fine, but not my main PC - new after some Windows (11 64bit)update. Turning off Firewall makes it work. Adding exceptions for roon.exe, raatserver.exe (for roon and roonserver), roonbridge and roonappliance does NOT SOLVE the problem.

I believe there are actually three exceptions you have to add.
Thanks for taking the time to write in - it’s good to see you on the community again, although I’m sorry you’re having issues getting your remotes to connect to your server.
@AceRimmer is spot on correct with their above response - here’s more info for you:
Yes I did read that before I posted the issue. And as I wrote in my post, adding those exceptions does not do the job in my case. Turning off the firewall altogether does work. SO there must be another exception missing. Or something else, like maybe the Windows updte changed something else in the firewall that blocks this Roon installation on my PC now, wherase it did work for years before.
My iPads, iPhone all work fine with the NUC based roon server in the same network - so I can actually listen to music. But still - it would be nice to fix this problem.
Yes network is private. Even though I’d have noticed it with other software I am using, I did check it again and confirmed.
There are more than 20 local devices in this network - no problem with any of them.
Also remarkable, from one of the other Windows 11 PCs in this network, which has the same Windows updates as my main work PC, Roon has no problems connecting to the same NUC based Roon server.
I got the problem resolved myself.
I deinstalled other audio related software or drivers recently installed on my main PC by Asus Armory Crate. Which one of the four (2 drivers, 2 programs) I uninstalled actually did the trick I am not sure. In any case these were the Realtek USB audio driver, AI noise reduction, and 2 sound related programs called Sonic Suite …
I found all of them dispensible. Uninstalled them and voilà, Roon remote worked right away
