AFAIK, the Trigon Exceed server uses Linux to run the Roon Server, not Roon OS, which is only used in the Nucleus and ROCK/NUC systems. So you won’t find an instance of Roon OS anywhere in your home network.
What format is used in the external drive connected to your Exceed? If it is NTFS, then you may need to repair the drive. The solution, if your drive is NTFS, is to plug it back into a Windows machine, run chkdsk /f on it, and then eject it properly and put it onto the ROCK machine.
Don’t simply unlpug it from your Windows PC, but safely eject it…
We can see two RoonServer machines associated with your account, one on Windows and one on the Trigon. The latter hasn’t been seen in some time. Is it your intention to migrate between machines?
If not, then please see our helpufl moderator @Geoff_Coupe’s post above. A chkdsk /f will generally reveal and repair any issues with improper mounting on an external drive -
I additionally recommend, for due diligence, that you add RoonServer.exe as an exception to the Windows Defender firewall.
Checked the Lacie drive. I can see the missing files and ran chk disk - reported no errors. Plugged back in to the Exceed machine - still nothing. Pondering new Roon install. Thank you for taking time out for me. Much appreciated. Rob
No, no intent in that respect. The Windows 11 machine runs Roon software and instructs the Exceed machine in repsect of output. Thank you. Regards, Rob.
Just to clarify your situation, you are saying that the Trigon Exceed has 250 albums on an internal disc, and that you had added a folder containing a further 270 albums on the LaCie drive (attached to the Exceed) as a Watched Folder to the Roon Server on the Exceed?
Can you post a screenshot of the > Storage screen of the Exceed’s Roon Server? I would expect it to show that the LaCie’s watched folder is not available.
If the LaCie and its contents can be seen when attached to your Windows PC but no longer seen when attached to the Trigon Exceed, then I think you should contact Trigon Support. This is unlikely to be a problem with Roon (providing that the Watched Folder is showing as not available), but possibly some issue with the underlying Linux system - and that’s for Trigon to help you with.
Yes. All that stuff was there before Friday last week. I can see the Lacie files when examined in a Windows PC. That number of files corresponds with the number missing from the Roon desktop. Hope this helps and again, thank you.
Right, so the Roon Server on the Exceed is showing the Watched Folder entry, but saying that it is not available. That definitely seems to me to point to an operating system issue rather than Roon. Time to raise it with Trigon Support, I think.
BTW, you said that you had 250 albums stored on the Exceed server - but there are only 52 tracks showing in the internal Music folder? That is odd.
You are definitely looking at the Roon Server in the Exceed? What does > General say is the Roon Server?
So if you don’t see two Roon Servers, that means that the Roon Server on your Exceed is not running (which is essentially what @connor implied when he said that it had not been seen in some time).
What happens if you reboot your Exceed server? Does it show up then? If not, then I think it’s over to Trigon Support once more.
Please don’t open a new support request for an ongoing issue. It merely hampers the support team from giving proper support. I’ve merged your post into your existing thread to keep everything together.
And it’s far from clear why you want to reinstall Roon on your PC, if your primary issue is that your Exceed server is your Roon Server, and that this is apparently not running.
I note the sarcasm. After lengthy post exchanges with you, Geoff, where you confirmed that it, Roon, isn’t functioning as it should, it’s obvious why I’d want to try that option. As you’re ‘an expert’, how would you proceed in further diagnoses? This is all new to me. That much should clear as day.
