What’s happening?

I'm having trouble connecting to Roon

What type of connection issue?

Something else

I purchased a new server, a 432 Evo Aeon, it uses Vortexbox. when i open roon and try to connect, choose you roon server indicates: Vortexbox update required. The manufacture of the server tells me that roon requires an update which needs to be manually pushed. FYI my roon software was recently installed.

Probably the same as here:

Hi fabio.sollazzo,

Thanks for writing in! And Congrats on the new streamer - we’ll get you up and running as soon as possible so you can start enjoying it with Roon. :+1:

Per @Suedkiez comment above - we did run into a hiccup a few updates ago that caused issues for outdated servers, and your 432 may be apart of that group.

The easiest and quickest way to see if this is true would be to contact the dealer directly and see about getting the server updated. Is this something you’re able to do?

If not, we do have a manual fix outlined in the KB article below:

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Benjamin and thank you for the quick reply. I don’t seem to have access to Roon’s database directory on my 432 Evo Aeon. The manufacturer is charging me 75 euros to do the update… i was hoping to find a solution myself.

thanks again

Hey @fabio.sollazzo,

Thanks for the update! Did you attempt to access the Evo using the IP? Here are steps:

If you’re running Roon Server on older Linux variants:

You can use the IP address of the device to access it like a NAS or network-shared location. You’ll need to use another desktop computer to access the network share location.

  1. Using a Windows machine:

a. Open File Explorer and navigate to \IP_address\Data

b. Use Guest as the username and password. You should then see the RoonServer folder.

  1. Using a Mac:

a. Open Finder and navigate to smb://IP_address/Data

b. Use Guest as the username and password. You should then see the RoonServer folder.

The IP address is the local IP address for your Roon Server device on the network. Once you’ve located the RoonServer location, then you can proceed from Step One from the article above.
