Describe the issue

I am trying out the Roon Smart Downloads feature and it keeps stalling after one or two albums. The colour of the lightning bolt goes white and on the Smart Downloads settings page it says "All Set" rather than "Downloading". I have a lot more space to use on my Astell&Kern SP3000 and have set Arc to download a lot more music. The Arc app is in the foreground all the time and the SP3000 is powered on and connected to WiFi.

Describe your network setup

One router (Nokia HA-140W-B) which provides Wifi to my MacBook (where my Roon Server is installed) and to the SP3000.

This may help you understand what Smart Downloads is/does :+1:

The more you listen, add, and favorite, the better your Smart Downloads will be.

Thanks. I think I am clear on how Smart Downloads should work. It’s just not actually working - it keeps stalling after 1-5 album downloads and then I need to interact with my device in some way, e.g. reconnecting to Wifi, changing screens in the Arc app, etc. for it to resume again, only for it to stall again…

Hi @nickharambee,

Smart Downloads are not static (SDL will delete and replace tracks over time), and they will accumulate only to the storage allocated in settings. How much storage have you allocated in Settings → Smart Downloads → Configure? See below.

Hi Connor. On the SP3000 I have allocated 200GB and so far only about 100 albums have downloaded (in original format) - maybe about 30GB of music. So there’s lots of space still and, as I’ve mentioned above, the 100 albums have only downloaded because I have continually interacted with the device in various ways - it rarely downloads more than 2/3 albums before stalling. It’s the same on my iPhone - static downloads work fine but smart downloads stall.

Which ARC version do you have on the 3000? There’s more than one thread about how the ARC that’s provided by A&K is outdated - for the longest time it didn’t work at all. Not sure if and how that changed.

Hi @nickharambee,

Thanks for the follow up - we were able to review a fresh Arc diagnostic report, and see frequent errors in relation to the network connection timing out during download.

Can you clarify this a bit more? Are you moving between cellular data and wifi during download? Does your device fall into standby mode if you leave it untouched long enough?

What happens if you turn off any energy-saving settings, keep the device plugged into its charger and attempt to download?

Thanks for your continued efforts! :+1:
