Describe the issue

Hi. Having issues with my Roon software on my Windows 11 PC. Every time I minimize my Roon window or I put my PC in sleep mode, when I wake it Roon is just completely frozen and i have to restart it to get it to work again. Have tried a few different firmware's and problem seems to persist still.

Hi Any thoughts on this?

Hey @Andrew_Kling,

Thanks for taking the time to write in, it’s good to see you community again! Sorry to hear about your freezing issues.

If possible could you please reproduce the issue, share the date and time, and then send over a set of Roon logs from your windows remote? Please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader.

We’ll be on standby for your reply, thank you! :raised_hands:

Hi Benjamin,

Sent the file over using my User Name.
Was able to recreate it today (7/31) at 2pm MT about.
Screen froze after minimizing the window but was still able to press buttons and start music (though nothing on the screen moved)

Hi Benjamin,
Wanted to know if you got my file and were able to check it?

Anything on this would like to try and resolve this issue.

Hey @Andrew_Kling,

Thanks for the follow-up! The first thing to test out :

  1. Moving your windows 11 over to the production version of Roon - it’s currently running on early access while all your other Roon devices are on production, this can sometimes lead to odd behavior. Here’s more info:
    https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/roon-early-access-program#How_do_I_leave:~:text=Roon%20ARC-,How%20do%20I%20leave%3F,-Leaving%20the%20Early

After migrating, if your experience the same issue, try the following:

  1. Close Roon

  2. Navigate to: C:\Users(username)\AppData\Local\Roon\Database\Registry\Client\

Note: It may require enabling “show hidden files and folders” to see this.

There you should see the file: saved_window_pos.

  1. Rename this file to saved_window_pos.old, restart your computer, and launch Roon then try to duplicate your issue.

Let us know if this doesn’t resolve the issue for you.

Thanks!

HI @benjamin ,

Still an issue the same thing is occurring after trying both things

I had initially moved to the early version as I was experiencing the same issue on the normal version actiall

A post was split to a new topic: Freezing also occurs again on Android

Hi @Andrew_Kling,

It looks like the machine is still running on early access. Please move all devices to the same build while we continue to troubleshoot - thank you!

Next, it may be worth reviewing the graphics drivers on your windows. Are they up to date?

You can go to this page: Official Drivers | NVIDIA
Select your graphics card model and check / download the latest version of the graphics card driver.
Once the download is complete, run the driver installer to update your drivers.

Can you provide more specific details here? Did you pull the Roon window back up from minimizing, and then it froze? Or, did the window not actually minimize in the first place - and froze?

Thank you!

Hi @benjamin

Rechecked and downgraded, issues still occurs. Also GPU graphics are updated.

Basically, if I minimize the window and then reopen it the screen is frozen. Nothing will move on the Roon window. If I click though the play button things will start to play. ButI see no change on the window. The window remains in the same state as before I minimized it

@benjamin
I submitted a video via the file uploaded. Also added the newest logs

Hey @Andrew_Kling,

Thanks for sending those over! However, the video you’ve shared is a bit blurry, and we’re not able to pinpoint the specific timestamp of when you performed the screen minimizing. What song did you have paused specifically?

Does the issue occur no matter the screen you’re on within Roon before minimizing? From the video, it looks like you’re browsing the Qobuz page prior to the issue. What happens if you browse a local playlist or ‘My Tracks’?

Let me know, thanks!

Hi @benjamin

It made me lower the resolution when uploading sorry.

It happens no matter what screen. You by radio head is the song I have on

Hi @Andrew_Kling,

Thank you for your help - we’ll work with what we have. The team is busy working to reproduce the symptom so we can pinpoint the error. We’ll reach out with next steps as soon as they’re available.

Thanks Connor. Let me know if you need anything else

Hello @Andrew_Kling ,

Can you please share a screenshot of your Windows 11 Display Settings? What screen resolution do you have listed there? Do you have any scaling options turned on?

Hi @noris

I will have to check when I get home as I am traveling for work at the moment. I can provide what I know it’s set at though.
4k resolution with 125% scaling
Set at a 240hz refresh rate.
G sync is enabled but only for full screen games.

Hi @Andrew_Kling ,

Thanks for letting us know. Yes, please do share the screenshot when you can. Also, we enabled some additional logging tools for your account, when you have a chance please open/close both Roon + RoonServer (in taskbar) twice so that it enters this new diagnostic mode (you won’t see any change on your end, but logging will be more detailed).

I would like to add that I am also experiencing this very same issue on Windows 11. The PC goes to sleep with Roon client running. When the Windows PC awakes I am unable to open or “maximize” Roon from the taskbar.
