Roon sometimes doesn't play music

Bin echt verzweifelt.

Nachtrag: Der Cache in Tifal wurde schon mehrfach geleert. Bei Roon machte ich dies jetzt auch. Ebenfalls keine Wirkung.

Sorry, @Matthias_Gallena
I don’t have a Tidal subscription.
Perhaps this helps?

Hey @Matthias_Gallena,

Ben with the support team here - thank you for all the provided information so far! And a big thank you @Axel_Lesch for the troubleshooting steps tried so far. You’ve helped paint a detailed picture of what’s going on, and where we need to further investigate :raised_hands:

Matthias, we’ll need you to recreate the issue you’ve experienced again, on your original Roon server machine.

What happens if you temporarily disable your windows firewall? Does the issue persist?

I’ll be on standby for your reply. Thanks!

Hi @Matthias_Gallena,

Can you reproduce this issue and share the specific date, time, and track attempted to play? From there, we’ll be able to better pinpoint error traces in your servers diagnostic report. :+1:

Sorry for the late reply. I had other problems.

I’ve written it several times. Yes, the problem is reproducible. Even after several attempts, the following albums do not play:

Artist YES; 1) the album “Drama” (song 1) was just tried to play, 6:14 p.m. German time. 2) At 6:16 p.m. an attempt was made to play the album “Tales of topographic oceans” (several tracks). Both albums will not be played!

Not even after several attempts! The time display begins to run. But the time display sometimes stops for a few seconds. Time doesn’t move on. For example, on album 2) the time stopped at 0:20, seconds. Previously, music from this album could be heard for a split second. After a minute or two the timer read 0:32. And again music could be heard for a very short time.

I can repeat the mistake of not being able to listen to these albums (and a few others) at any time.

I can listen to the music from these albums on the PC via the streaming service Tidal without Roon and without the hi-fi system. A test with the Roon app on mobile was also positive. The music could be heard here too.

Additional information:

A) When I select an album in Roon there is a quiet “click” from my amplifier. Then the music starts.

For all albums that are not played there is no “click”.

B) As I said, a lot of albums are played. But not the albums I mentioned above.

Other albums that won’t play:

  1. CHICAGO, hot streets
  2. CHICAGO, VIII
  3. CHAKA KHAN, I feel for you
  4. NEIL DIAMOND, Lovescape

What are the formats of those albums?

FLAC, 192kHz, 24bit. Same like Others, which are okay.

Hey @Matthias_Gallena,

We’re having trouble connecting to your Roon Server device to pull a fresh diagnostic report - could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Thanks!

I´ve done it

Hi @Matthias_Gallena,

Thanks for sharing the above timestamps. We see a clear pattern in your system logs that indicates you’re hitting bandwidth issues as soon as playback attempts to start:

 Warn: FTMSI-B-OE ti/0F1FE01D: poor connection kbps:4388,0 (min:6037,0)

The issue seems to only occur when playback is from the Trinnov Amethyst, perhaps you can test out setting a different clock master?

Within your network router settings, can you provide network priority to the Trinnov Amethyst?

I have now prioritized the Trinnov in my router. The problem is still there.

My question is: If it’s bandwidth problems, why should they always occur with the same albums and songs?

I actually had bandwidth problems sometimes. I was able to read the corresponding message. But those were other albums and songs that were basically played and then eventually stopped. My problem is actually that some albums don’t play at all. No temporary bandwidth problems.

I have no idea, but I think they’ve noticed a bug that actually occurs for me sometimes, but is unrelated to the bug that’s relevant here.

Do you have another idea for a bug or help?

Hi @Matthias_Gallena,

See if changing your DNS settings may help - you can try either Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare or (1.1.1.1) and see if the same issues persist.

I tried both DNS settings. Both, Google (8.8.8.8) and Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) .

Both still show the error.
