RoonServer Docker image is live!

For a long time, Roon users have been running RoonServer in self-managed environments beyond the traditional desktop path - on Linux servers, home labs, NAS systems, and custom-built machines. Those setups are more common than ever, and we are now making that path official.

The official RoonServer Docker image is now available, and Docker is now our recommended and supported deployment path for self-managed server environments.

docker pull ghcr.io/roonlabs/roonserver:latest

Getting started

If you’re on Synology, QNAP, Unraid, TrueNAS, ASUSTOR, or a standard Linux machine, the KB article is your starting point. It walks through setup on each platform and covers what you need before you begin.

Community

Over the years, Roon community members filled this gap themselves - building Docker images, creating NAS-specific packages, writing guides, and helping users get running on platforms we didn’t officially support. We want to especially thank @crieke, @gTunes, @Steef_de_Bruijn, @DDPS, @elgeeko, @mjw and the many others who contributed images, fixes, documentation, and support along the way. Some of that work happened visibly in the community, and some of it happened more quietly on GitHub, Docker Hub, and elsewhere - but all of it mattered. We appreciate everyone who helped users get up and running over the years - you helped make this official solution possible.
