I just rendered 2 of mine (Nuimo and a dial) redundant for volume as I’m running thru a Topping Pre/Ext90 setup using the C1/C2 function to set level and input to 2 buttons on the remote for AB comparison of a Lumin D1 and Holo May KTE whicjh is rather a handy function I must say, but you have to pic the volumes as changing one wont affect the other. good for HT bypassing tho too I think and maybe can chose the output to RCA or XLR also.
I recommend getting a Pi4 with 2GB or more. I have a roadmap of much more Roon Extensions ans some of them (for example rooLP) will need a device that has a lot of horsepower and memory.
If you like to join me with all I plan in the future best get a Pi4. if you only like to use it for rooDial a Pi zero W is good enough.
Best DrCWO
While I agree with this advice it’s currently trumped by the difficulty in getting hold of RPi 4s due to the chip shortage.
Am enjoying the Roonumio experience plenty thanks @DrCWO BTW, good work
Thanks Gents, and what softwares to i need to download and flash on the SDCard/s ?
This is the image file to be flashed onto the SD Card. Balena Etcher is the software recommended to carry out said flashing. It’ll work straight off the image zip, so no need to unpack that. Just point Etcher at the image and the stick and you’re done.
Again, good luck.
Thanks! Do i need to purchase roonExtend too?
Yes, you need to purchase a license for rooNuimo.
Assuming you have the hardware first… ($150) from Sellcodes site…then you need the $25/60 1yr or life lic for it.
I’m running 2 Nuimo and they are very nicely built…can’t understand why they never were a hit. More for us
Originally they were pretty expensive and only worked on Sonos.
They were about the same cost as the Sonos they controlled.
The Good Doctor has helped us put them to much better use as a Roon remote.
But the stock will run out at some point, so maybe I do need to buy a third one sooner than later, even though I only really listen to music in two rooms
Cross fingers that selling the Stock Nuimos for Roon will encourage Senic to produce new devices!
I just wish mine would arrive, first one lost or delivered incorrectly and AusPost would not do anything.
DrCWO very kindly arranged a replacement from Dominic at Senic but that has been in transit for nearly forty days.
Originally placed my order in September last year, bought a lifetime license and a Pi4 with a Mechatronics case but still no Nuimo as yet.
I would have preferred express post if it was offered as an option?
Those Pi Zero sold out already…lol
Thanks everyone for your advice, input and assistance, so I’ve bought:
Nuimo Lifetime Licence
Raspberry Pi 4 Model B with 4GB RAM (2019 Model)
Argon Neo Case
Sandisk 32GB micro SD Card
USB-C PoE Splitter Gigabit 5V/4A Power Supply for Raspberry Pi 4
Just waiting arrival of the above, then assemble, and I’m in
I may have played a part in that. Chip shortage, grrrrrr…
Mark you have had some bad luck with this, hopefully you will get it soon and enjoy using it
@oneofmany you have my sympathy also. Sounds like a dysfunctional postal service in Aus is the source of your bad luck. In the UK it’s bad luck to have Yodel responsible for delivering your parcel. They claim to be a delivery service, I suspect they’re really a front for a parcel kidnapping gang…
So true, I spat out my coffee as I read it
Pi Zero wont cut it…you need a Pi Zero W or W2
Those were pi zero 2 Ws, or I’ve got a nasty surprise when I get home tomorrow…
Edit Just checked my order and I’m good
