rooNuimo – best Roon controller ever

Good newss and bad news :+1: :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Hi Guys,

Bad news first:
Senic runs out of stock of the Nuimo Control devices. Currently there are four white Nuimo Controls that can be ordered. So hurry up if you like to get one of those!

Now the good news:
Last days I talked to Philip, one of the founders of Senic, the manufacturer of the Nuimo Control devices. He was very happy that the devices he had in stock were sold so quickly.

To further support the Roon community he decided to build a new series of Nuimo Control devices. This means we will have brand new White AND Black Nuimos with full manufacturer warranty soon. :+1: :+1: :+1:

Unfortunately, as manufacturing costs have increased due to the lack of electronics, these new Nuimo Controls will cost $170 instead of the previous $150 (Worldwide shipping included). But they do have the full manufacturer warranty and not the limited warranty I was previously able to offer.

I also managed to negotiate a limited-time special offer. All customers who order BEFORE the new Nuimos are available will only have to pay the old price of $150.

This means you can continue ordering for the old price even if the stock of the last four Nuimos is gone.

I will let you know when I know when the new Nuimos will be available.

So despite owning two of these I’d be interested in another if it was black, is there anyway of guaranteeing a new black one at the old price or am I after the moon on a stick?

Hi @killdozer,
you can order using the Sellcodes Page here: Get A Brand New Nuimo (sellcodes.com)

Mailing me the shipping Address please use “Bought BLACK Nuimo” in the subject line.
However, I cannot not process this order until the new devices will be available.

Thanks @DrCWO, I’m pretty short on virtues but I was blessed with large reserves of patience so no worries

Hi Doc,

I’m not using caffeine mode at all, I use it with default setting except the heartbeat LED is at 0 to help preserve battery life as much as possible, which is remarkably still at 40% even after being on 24/7 since Tuesday. So i’m very happy with this aspect.

I am finding it goes to sleep if there is no music playing, whist roon is playing the Nuimo stays active.
The Pi4 is connected via Ethernet on a 1 gigabit network so all good there.
Bluetooth signal distance is also well within range - 3-4m from Pi & WiFi network.

All in all its perfect

I suppose as I’m using the Nuimo outside of roon to control the volume of other inputs of the Dutch & Dutch 8c’s (via roonserver) if there no music playing the Nuimo has a tendency to go into sleep mode.

Now I got you, thanks’ for the explanatio

Will they (Senic) similarly now support warranty respectively back to,purchase date for the previous units they shipped too?

Currently warranty is for shipping only. This means if you receive the Nuimo broken you get a replacement unit.
For the new units the warranty lasts for one year since the date of purchase. This means if your Nuimo dies during this period you get a replacement.

Hmm, as I am in no rush with a remote I should have waited with the purchase a week and should have preordered one from the new batch with one year warranty.
On the other hand, it is „Made in Germany“ so chances it will die in the first year are slim.

Sounds great. Will the new Numios be technical identical to the old ones or will there be upgrades?

Same as those sold from stock.

Question; how do i get the Pi4 to connect to the network via Wi-Fi?

See my video here: rooDial Part 4 Make it run - YouTube
It is for Pi Zero W but the same for Pi4.

But if you can use wired Ethernet. It is much more reliable than WiFi.

Thanks Doc, I have it wired  . Just wanted to explore the WiFi option.

The volume control on my Nuimo appears to have stopped working.
All the other controls work as expected, just nothing happens when I rotate the volume control.
I have tried reinstalling rooExtend with the latest 2.1.3 version, but still no joy.
Any suggestions what else I could try or do I have a faulty controller?
Thanks!

I would re pair it or maybe reflash the SD and try a fresh connection.

No indication in the extension of activity? (L) (R) (.)

Thanks for the suggestions.
There is no indication of any activity in the extension when adjusting the volume.
And I tried a reflash of the SD card to update to the latest version, with no luck.

Does it need charging?

Do you run more than one Nuimo at the same time?

Nope - 90% battery.
