Hi, I believe this streamer works with Asset UPnP server, which I also use as a UPnP server with my Naim NDS player, i.e. the UPnP output is common, so the UPnP from the SonoreUPnP bridge should work into this streamer.
The Plinius Toko device looks interesting, if you want a physical and a network playback device.
I have a Meridian 200 CD transport for those occasions where a CD is needing to be played.
At first thank you for your work on rooUPNP. I successfull use it with my FiiO M15 and Neuttron Music Player and USB Audio Player Pro. It perfect plays MQA and FLAC up to 192khz BitPerfect to the internal dual DAC. MQA gets 8x unfolded by the M15 Hardware.
The UAPP UPNP Renderer implementation is not that solid and advanced than the NP one so I stay with the NP.
One thing is not working:
Booth players support native DSD for the M15. Playing local files works like a charm.
DSD64 over DoP isnât working. The signal is handled by booth players as PCM (shows 172khz 24Bit, white noise).
The setting is 192khz/Transparent in the extension and Flac off MQA Off 192khz and DSD over DoP in the Audion Setup.
I am happy to test further if you have any Idea.
There is a extension called âDeep Harmonyâ. With this extension you can use for each Audio Device in ROON a different Volume Control. Bad thing you cant control uPNP devices with harmony (example all UNDOK enabled devices).
Since rooUPNP already know my ruark R5 device (Volume is working) it would be so cool if I could map the Volume from the ruark R5/7 to the M15 Audio Device.
Any chance to get this working?
Roon does not send DSD via the Squeeze Interface. My guess is, that this is a limitation in Roon as it also limits to 192kHz are. This means DSD will always be transcoded to PCM before being sent to rooUPnP.
I have no idea how this can be changed.

As far as I can see the M15 supports UPnP. Why it isnât it possible to control its volume via rooUPnp as you did it with the Ruak R5?
I know Deep Harmony controls devices by Infrared. Also other options?

The M15 supports uPNP only as Sender not as Renderer by the FiiO App. The LineOut Volume (is an option in the settings) can be controlled by the Volume Knob but this is not working with Neutron Player (Hardware implementation for the volume by FiiO). Deep Harmony I tested out a hour ago, is working. My remote is now working also for roon, stop , play, quick launch buttons⌠except the Volume.
The solution will be a raatUPNP.
How ever I guess on DSD64 roon is doing the things right because DSD64 over DoP uses 176.4KHz and thatâs exact the signal we get. I also tested NP Sender DSD64 to NP Renderer, it is also not working. Above in the thread somebody was reporting that DSD was working for NAIM. So I will see if somebody is answering from the NP App.
I have no sample here but I think you are right with everything above DSD64 and the result will be that you can hear the Audio because is was Down sampled to 192Khz PCM .
Best regards,
Marco
Good News for all using Neutron Player on Android DACs like FiiO or iBasso or your Phone with an external DAC:
The upcomming Version of NP has DSD64 (roon DSD over DoP) and MQA (only if your Hardware is doing it), FLAC up to 192khz with the uPNP Renderer and rooUPNP.
Last Weekend I got the bug fixed version from NP after allot of testing we got it working ;-).
Best Regards,
Marco
First I would like to thank @DrCWO for this great addition to the Roon cosmos.
Here is my feedback on devices tested.
Buchardt A500 active speakers wirelessly via Platinum WiSA hub. Works just fine. Sometimes the volume control and pause button show time lags. Skipping, gapless playback, starting music and volume controls work great (despite some lags sometimes). Stopping music with the pause button might take a few seconds. It takes up to 5 seconds after hitting pause until the music really stops.
Dynaudio XEO2 wirelessly via Dynaudio Connect hub. Pretty much the same as with the Buchardt A500. But auto-on when starting a stream doesnât work reliably. Sometimes the speakers switch on when you start a stream and sometimes you have to switch them on via Dynaudioâs IR remote or control app. Couldnât figure out a regularity so far.
KEF LSX⌠Works fine⌠Didnât test in detail because they have not caused any of my pain. They did everything I wanted them to in Roon even before rooUPnP.
All these speakers I tested up to PCM 24/96. Higher resolution doesnât make sense because the wireless connection between master and slave or hub and speaker is limited to 24/96 anyway.
Pioneer SC-LX901 worked fine for a few minutes. During this time everything worked fine up to 24/192. Now the Pioneer doesnât even show up in the squeezebox category anymore. But that doesnât give me any headache since I have given up on using that device for anything more than Bluray and AppleTV. This problem is not exclusive to rooUPnP. The AVR shows up via âchromecast built-inâ in Roon every now and then, whenever his majesty feels like it, then it doesnât show up for weeks and months again. Sometimes reboots and hard resets do help, sometimes they donât. The only reliable connecting between Roon and this device is airplay. I was hoping UPnP would improve that, but sadly it doesnât. The Pioneer shows up in Roon whenever his majesty feels like it. But most of the time it doesnât.
This weekend another test with a Denon AVR-X1600 will follow. This is the environment I actually intended rooUPnP for. Today was just a test drive at my home for the actual site of operation with the Denon at the home of a friend who is not that tech-savvy. I hope it will work out.
Here is my promised feedback on my friendâs Denon AVR-X1600. Did not work with PCM 24/192. No sound at all but runs absolutely flawlessly on FLAC 24/192.
Even way better than the 5 devices I tested at my place.
At his places we also didnât experience the time lags when pausing the music or selecting volume. I have yet to find out where those lags come from in my setups⌠At my place there are two differences to my friendâs use case: I only tested WiFi devices at my place. My friendâs Denon has a wired connection. An he uses his iMac as a core whereas I have a dedicated Intel NUC running Roon Rock.
It wonât work as Squeezebox does not support higher than 192/24 in Roon as their hardware never went higher officially. The community development added this later via the USB hack. Roon doesnt officially support Squeezelite which does go to DSD only the hardware implementations originally produced by Logitech.
Hi Richard I just jumped on mine here and this is what I see with the latest 2.1.3 install of RooExtend.
Just paste your key in here and the software will start the extension
Something wrong there, it should look like mine if you have the full RooExtend installed.
Maye try to download and burn a new image on a new card if you can.
I only installed my second device yesterday and all perfect, though I have been running my original for several months and seen nothing like this problem.
I have installed image on a 64gb SD card so it should be ok. Iâm starting to suspect that my raspberry pi 3 B + has too little memory. It has 512kb. Could the fault be there?
Now I have only tried it on a PI4 with 4GB, though I know it works on other devices.
Though I remember the Doctor saying about RooUPNP needing more power than older devices had.
But you are missing RooNuimo etc as well so I will let the Doctor pick that up
As for micro SD cards I think it only needs 4GB to work
Do you have another Pi you can run it on to test it?
