Hat irgend jemand eine Idee? Haben Sie vielleicht schon Erfahrungswerte mit dem Gerät, @DrCWO ?
Hi @DrCWO,
I am using the rooUPnP to work with Revo SuperConnect. I am quite convinced that this setup will also work for all the other of the Revo-devices.
I had one issue: the Revo SuperConnect is not able to switch between different sample rates. So I’ve put it fix on 44.1/16 in the rooUPnP-settings. Since then, no problem in streaming music via Roon to the Revo-device. You can put Revo in your rooUPnP_tested_Devices.pdf, with the remark to fix the sample rate to only one possible value.
Kind regards, Frank.
Good news and thank you for this information. Will add as soon as possible.
My guess is that the changing sample rate is no issue of the device but of Roon. Please try to activate Sample Rate conversion in Ronn maybe to 24/96 for this device. Doing so Ronn resampe by itself, probably in a better quality than rooUPnP and with less effort (heat) for the PI.
This device can only handle upto 24/48. So I have activated the Sample Rate Conversion in Roon, and now it seems that indeed the Revo is able to switch between 44,1 and 48 without issues.
Thank you for the tip, Frank.
Hi Simon,
the only thing you can do trying to boot the rooExtend SD-Card image on your VM. I also use Dietpi so the procedure should be the same. I’m interested in your results
I guess you have to extract the kernel from the /boot folder of the SD card and use it for first boot.
Recently got rooExtend all setup with rooDial and rooUPNP, I can get it all working but it seems to randomly disconnect and restart all the time. Looking at the logs the services are restarting and coming back online all the time.
It’s a Pi4 with 8gb ram, Pi is hardwired via ethernet to the network.
Frustrasting as it obviously stops the music playing.
@DrCWO just done the same again. I don’t seem to be able to play more than a few tracks without it restarting. All the extensions disappear and the zones from Roon, then come back.
rooUPnP sends endless streams for MP3 and FLAC as a radio station does. Not all streamers are able to receive those endless streams. Playing a FLAC or a MP3 file there is a file length in the FLAC or MP3 header. This is omitted in streams as they have potentially endless length.
I saw you tested 44100 MP3. This most of the current streamers can decode. Maybe the Opera R8 can’t. In the compatibility list I offer in my download area there is no report about this streamer. So it was not used by anyone else until now.
I wonder why you don’t connect via USB to the Raspberry Pi? This will probably work without any issue. As USB is async there will be no degradation in sound quality.
If rooUPnP is useless for you please send me the License Code you got to info@definiteaudio.de and I will refund it.
I want to use Opera R8 as a streamer that can be controlled with Roon.
Internet radio on Opera R8 works without any add-ons.
The situation was similar when using BubbleUPnP on android mobile. Opera R8 was visible as a renderer but did not play music. After enabling in Opera R8 renderer settings “Proxy Qobuz tracks” everything became OK.
Refound is not required (there is no guarantee that rooUPnP will work with all devices).
Good luck.
