Please send me the License Key to info@definiteaudio.de and I will refund it. Seems to me that it makes no sense paying for something that is not working in your setup.
Back to my question before: Why not use USB? rooExtend provides the Roon bridge. So connect the streamer via USB to a Raspberry Pi with rooExtend you will get a Roon streamer.
If I understand correctly, when connecting the RPi with rooExtend via USB to the Opera R8, the RPi is a streamer via USB connected to the Opera R8 which performs the DAC function. Is it so?
There is one Samsung TV that reported to work with rooUPnP. This means there is a chance that other Samsung devices with UPnP also work. But no guarantee
But you can try. There is a test license vor seven days for low money.
If it works for you please cancle the subscription for the Test License and get a Regular License. The Test License it is a recurring license getting your money every seven days
I have rooUPnP installed on a Raspberry Pi connected (by Ethernet) to the same network as my Roon Core (on a iMac) which is on the same network.
I also have a Naim NDX which is on the same network but wireless (It is in another room with no wired Ethernet). It does not appear as a Squeezebox device. If move the NDX & connect via Ethernet it appears in audio as a Squeezebox device & plays fine.
If I then move the NDX back to its original location & reconnect wirelessly, Roon still finds the device and it plays absolutly fine, however after a few hours it drop the connection & I cannot reconnect again unless I go back through wired Ethernet & then reconnect wireless.
I am presuming this is just the weakness of the WiFi? And the only solution is to find a way to get an ethernet connection to it?
Forgiven
rooExtend is up to Pi4 at the moment. Pi5 not yet supported.
Please see the compatibility Chart in the Quick Installation Guide in my Download Area.
I have many question. Feel free to answer very technical, I’m a linux sysadmin for over 20 years.
I’m reading a lot and I’m not quite sure if your extention RooUPnP is the answer to all my problems.
Here’s the scenario.
My roon server is running on a Windows 10 PC.
I have an android device(Fiio M23) that I currently use with Spotify(Connect) to control my Anthem AVM60 (Home Theater Processor) and it works great.
I use the M23 device with MediaMonkey to stream to the same AVM60 via DLNA which also works great.
Now, what I want to accomplish, would be to change spotify to Tidal ( since Roon don’t seem to support Spotify ) and be able to play/control music with roon from the M23 and play it on the AVM60.
Would rooUPnP allow me to do it ?
If yes, do I absolutly need and external device like a PI4 or can the extension simply be installed on my Windows10 PC ?
As far as I understand (as I don’t know the M23) it can control Roon as it is Roon Ready. If you connect from there to your AVM60 with an analog cable you should be able to playback the output of the M23 on the AVM. But you can also always control playback from a phone, iPad or PC using the Roon remote App.
As the AVM60 seems to be DLNA compatible you can also directly stream from Roon to AVM60 using rooUPnP. In this case the M23 (or phone, pc, iPad) acts as a controller, controlling playback of the AVM60.
rooUPnP sends FLAC streams (without track length in its FLAC header). There are some elder DLNA receivers out in the wild that are not able to process these FLAC streams but only FLAC files with the track length included. There is no guarantee that it works with your Anthem AVR60! If it did not work I offer a refund.
A list of the devices working with rooUPnP you can find in my download area.
I hope this helps. But please feel free to ask further questions.
@DrCWO I have a few questions, I have never been able to use RooUpNP but now I am closer than ever. I am using a Sonore Signature Rendu to send data to a PS Audio Sr DAC. Everything is hardwired. I am running your code on a Pi4 with 8mb of memory.
Everything looks fine until I go to play a file. I send a file to the Rendu, Roon looks like it’s playing but no files are actually being sent to the DAC. The animation next the song is moving but the progress bar at the bottom of the screen does not move.
Hi, How are you connecting the PS Audio DirectStream DAC to the Sonore Signature Rendu?
Surely by USB
If so, then the Sonore Signature Rendu with the Roon Ready app installed will present as a Roon Endpoint, and will see the PS Audio DAC attached.
Why the need for UPnP stream?
And if you to send a UPnP stream to the PS Audio DAC on its network input run the SonoreUPnP Bridge on the Rendu.
I am connecting via HDMI cable to the I2S input. The signature Rendu was an early product and does not have the Roon Ready app. Thanks for your suggestion though.
