Not a game changer for a Ropieee endpoint, seen at the distance; extra resolution has little use for a same diagonal (what a pity they have diminished the border size to have a bigger screen in the same form factor). More power consumption also, I suppose.
Me too, first time I have a streamer with a screen.

does anybody have any hands-on experience with the display 2 by now, as to wether it works with ropieee or not? I’d like to avoid a mispurchase…

I tried today to install a RPi5 with the display 2. My screen does not do anything, its stays black.

Yeah. The ‘display 2’ is another device that requires a different configuration.
Ok, I will wait patiently for the next version of Ropieee with display2 support.
I was able to get the display 2 to power on, show the boot screen and then give me this after boot. I changed the dtoverlay in the config.txt to dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-ili9881-7inch to get his far. I feel like I am so close those! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.s- I bought the Display 2 and didn’t realize it wouldn’t work and can’t return it.

There’s another thread here about the new display. Several of us donated funds to Harry so he could purchase the new display and try to get it supported. Harry has one on order.

Looks like the screen I had with a Raspi 5 (but on a Display 1 screen) ! A blue square and blue line. See Display issue on Raspi 5 Ropieee

Thanks. I am just planning on using this with the pi5 as a display for a Roon zone, no audio out. I’ll let everyone know if I have any luck. Thanks all!

No. Gave up, I returned to a Raspi 4 for Ropieee. BTW the screen is functionning perfectly with anothers Linux distributions. Using it for another purpose now.

10-4. Thanks JCB. I’ll let you know if I ever figure it out.
I’ll give a try to Ropieee 2025.02, which have some nive evols concerning Raspi 5, and notably firmware update.
I’ve tried it with 2025.02 and the current beta. Tried the Display 2 with Pi5, Original Touch Display with Pi5, and Display 2 with Pi4. None of these combos worked with display.
