I have the same problem with many albums. Among them George Harrisons “Somewhere in England”. It’s available in Tidal app but UNavailable through Roon. I tried to rescan the album but no luck. Why?
Old issue and late comment but for the record: Some labels have a hobby of doing take-downs and then put the content back up again a day later. Sometimes to redeliver with updated metadata. Sometimes for…well, looks like no reason for us but might just be an error. We are in the hands of labels on what they put up on the service and some are more professional than others. It’s just the way is. ![]()
Nearly the same issue - Tidal returns lots of albums from ECM records where all the tracks are Unavailable. Is there a way to identify these and stop them showing up?
(I would love ECM to be available, but I don’t think they currently stream on any service)
Unfortunately, we get two different criteria for an album from TIDAL – whether we can display it, and whether we can stream it. We don’t have any choice about following these rules, and when an album is shown but can’t be streamed in Roon, you’ll generally see the same thing in TIDAL’s apps.
We’ve all been frustrated about the ECM catalog too, but not a lot we can do here unfortunately.
What about when it can be streamed in the Tidal app. But not with Tidal in Roon?
i usw the Tidal App to organize my Playlists. Very often the whole list is unavailable.
I can play the Songs when i go to the Album. But in the list they are unavailable.
Does anyone have similar issues?
@bigj if you have a link, we can take a look.
@cuco – can you be a little more specific. Exact steps to reproduce the issue would be helpful.
Make sure you both let us know what country you’re in, as well. Thanks!
Hey mike,
it is very simple. My todal Playlists are very often unavailable. as you can see here:
But when i click on the Album itsself all the tracks are available. For example Mumford and sons - Johannesburg:
The list abouve tells me it is unavailable. and this is with nearly every Playlist i made in tidal. sometimes when i Change a few Songs the tracks that are available for me Change. Once it helped to logg off. But the last few times it didnt.
If you Need further informations please contact me! We can also have some remote Support sessions or stuff like this.
Thanks for your help!
Hi @cuco ---- My apologies for the inconvenience here. I’d like to try and get this straightened out for you but need to gather some information from you first. Please see below. Thanks!
-
The screen grab you provided of a playlist that is having the issue, can you please confirm if this playlist was created within Tidal or Roon?
-
Are you having the same issue when listening to music from this playlist in Tidal? Can you confirm if it will or will not play in Tidal?
-
The song “Colours” by Roosevelt. How did you obtain this track? Added to your collection via Tidal? Purchased from Tidal? Or Imported into roon from your personal collection?
-Eric
hey Eric,
thanks for the quick reply. FYI i am from Germany. So here the answers:
- Created in Tidal
- Never like this. Sometimes at work a few songs do not work, but normally they work at home or always on my iphone.
- It is added it in Tidal to my tidal playlist.
In general i make my playlists in Tidal, cause i use the Tidal App on my iPhone for offline Music. Does Roon sync back Playlists? Or when i create new ones, are they als created on tidal? Never tried it.
cuco
You can play a Tidal playlist in Roon, but if you want to edit it at all you have to make a local copy. You can edit that local copy in Roon but it doesn’t sync back to Tidal and you can’t save it back to Tidal. Neither are new Roon playlists saved to Tidal.
Has there been any progress made on this issue?
I’m bumping this request, because now that Qobuz is around, roon could try to find it there before giving up.
This “unavailable” error is most annoying while playing playlists.
Even some Tidal playlists created by themselves are getting unavailable tracks.
When playing long and historical playlists (like my 700 track and growing ‘favourites’) I often get the Qobuz ‘Track Unavailable’ error message but I can never find out which track as the item is skipped in the queue and not marked as such. Usually the track is available, just not at that location (Qobuz have a nasty habit of updating albums with different ID’s if they say change distributors or whatever so they go missing) so if I knew which track had been skipped because it was not available I could go find it and add it back to the playlist. Yes I know the item is marked ‘unavailable’ in the playlist, but with large playlists ending those items is a pain (theres no filter for instance) and often I find that isn’t true and the track plays just fine).
I have a problem where Roon suggests tracks in Shuffle that turn out to be Unavailable in Roon. This then wipes out my whole Queue. This often negates a lot of effort. And happens a few times per week. A lot of tracks are unavailable – for instance before an album is actually released.
It would be great to handle these Unavailable tracks.
I can think of 3 ways to improve things.
Firstly, do not add tracks to Shuffle if unavailable in Tidal
If that is not possible, then show the track is unavailable in the Shuffle window so I don’t add the track to the Queue. When I look at the album, the track displays as unavailable, so that field is available to Roon.
If an unavailable track does get through, then just skip that track rather than the whole queue.
I have only just subscribed to Qobuz, so maybe something similar is needed there as well. Not yet sure.
Yours hopefully
Stuart Dudman
If I have an unavailable track it doesn’t skip the whole queue just the track(s). Sounds like you have another issue.
Further to my post back in February attached below, I’m getting this such a lot now in playlists I have had and added to for years it would be really helpful if Roon might be able to:
- Put “Unavailable” tracks in a list somewhere as it finds them - maybe even a database integrity scan that discovers all tracks in playlists and the library that aren’t where Roon thinks they should be (the internal Qobuz ID has changed or the track has been moved by Qobuz without updating the proper ID tag - this is a different issue to being unavailable due to no longer being offered to stream obviously).
- Then we need to have a screen that lists the “Unavailable” tracks alongside other versions that are available (these can be found by searching the artist tracks or albums as I have discovered on most occasions, because Qobuz has just moved them without maintaining the previous ID tag). Then the user can tick the track required and Roon should update its own database so wherever that track is referenced the new linked ID tag is used.
Does that sound feasible? Because if Roon is to be our goto library then surely, as time goes on, there has to be a more dynamic interaction between Roon and the streaming services it offers to manage for us. This runs to updating live playlists without having to copy them to Roon and lose the live link forever - but that’s another story! ![]()
I really like the feature that shows you in a playlists if a song is unavailable, but it’s really not a huge value if you can’t search for or show all unavailable tracks in a playlist. Similar to showing duplicates, an option to show unavailable tracks would a great, and very helpful playlist feature.
I’m bumping this one as it seems no one noticed it? I’ve just loaded a playlist I’ve run for about a year or so and it’s full of ‘unavailable’ tracks (not that I know until I try to play the track), and sure enough when I visit the album link a quick search through ‘versions’ soon locates the exact same album - of course I then have to update the playlist version with the found version (it is the same, identical, just presumably on a different ID number?). Surely Roon can help here?
Yeah, I posted about this a week or so ago. Seems like qobuz meta data is changing for whatever reason. Very annoying, my play lists have a bunch of broken tracks too.
