After a major Roon update, it’s normal for the server to require one full restart to re-initialize background services, including streaming integrations like TIDAL or Qobuz. This is expected behavior and doesn’t indicate a fault with your Sonic Transporter or network.
If streaming works normally after the reboot and does not require repeated restarts, then everything is functioning as intended.
If you start seeing a pattern where streaming services consistently fail after every cold start or sleep, next update, please let us know — at that point we’d want to dig deeper.
Maybe I explained the issue incorrectly.
If I power down my integrated amp but leave the streamer on when I power the integrated amp back on I have to reboot the server every time to get Roon to play a selection.
I tried it a bit differently today and what I did was disable and enable the streamer in the audio setup menu and that allowed me to play selections.
This started with the latest update
I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
Thanks for the update and timestamp! It sounds like you’ve encountered a classic “stale handshake” issue. When you power down your integrated amp, the USB connection between the FiiO SR11 and the amp’s internal DAC is severed. Because the SR11 stays powered on, it remains “connected” to Roon over the network, but it effectively loses its “voice” (the USB output).
When the amp comes back on, Roon often fails to realize the USB path has been re-established because it thinks the session never ended. Your workaround, disabling and re-enabling the streamer, forces Roon to perform a fresh handshake with the SR11, which is why it works.
Since this started with the latest update, Roon may be attempting to “talk” to the DAC before it has fully initialized its USB handshake with the SR11.
Go to Settings > Audio.
Find your FiiO SR11 and click the Device Setup (gear icon).
Look for Resync Delay.
Try setting this to 500ms or 1s. This gives the hardware a moment to "handshake" before Roon starts pushing data.
It sounds like the FiiO SR11 has several modes (ROON, MIX, etc.). Updates to both Roon and FiiO firmware can sometimes make the "MIX" mode unstable.
Ensure the SR11 is set specifically to "ROON" mode rather than "MIX" or "DLNA."
Firmware Check: Ensure you are on the latest firmware (specifically versions M239 / V630 or later), as FiiO specifically addressed Roon Ready stability and USB discovery in recent patches.
We’ll be on standby for your reply and results, thank you @mlittle110!
I tried your suggestions and the issue still exists.
The Fiio streamer was at the latest firmware and it was set to Roon.
Changing the resync delay did not resolve the issue.
I tried powering off the streamer and the Advance Paris A10 then powering them on the A10 first and then the streamer, the issue is still present and resolves itself when I disabled and enable the Fiio in the Audio settings menu.
I wanted to inform you that the issue has been identified and is currently under investigation by our R&D team.
