Better late than never. I have had a few.
61cm helmet

red original seat.
It does have a pair of hard panniers included too so double score.
2004 R1150R Rockster.
Yes same, paint on tank has had some type of reaction to something, itās bubbled up and lifting in places.
I quite like the chocolate lime finish myself.
The flying ChocoLime!
Congratulations, @AceRimmer. Thatās a very cool find.
Think Iāve owned six boxers and currently own an RT. Theyāre fantastic bikes.
Iām leaving for Norway in a couple of days where Iāll be riding an RT from Oslo up into the Arctic Circle (bit of time in Finland and Sweden along the way). Might post a pic or two but Iām more likely to be too busy enjoying the ride
Hope you have tons of fun with the new bike!
Sounds like fun to be had.
It was way too hot today, over 100.
Just like riding in a giant hair drier!
I āve had a few, the only RT was an RT1100 back 20 ish years ago. Will try and find pic and upload when I finish at work, mentioned before about being mistaken for gendarmes in France when riding with a friend on same bike.
Lovely bike apart from the fly screenā¦was it modelled on a Harleyās?
Dunno, itās the official BMW accessory
Well it should keep the wind off.
Canāt blame anyone for making that mistake!
Hereās my version of that same scenario from a couple of years ago, though our bikes werenāt the same color.
Another one from about 10 years ago on a trip up through the Canadian Rockies with a few friends - all of us on BMWs though one masochistic friend of mine did this trip on a K1000S which head mounted panniers on. He spent most of that trip dealing with back pain
Iām not so sure about that @AceRimmer. It looks after market to me - Iām not sure that BMW made a windscreen for that bike. Itās obviously made specifically for the bike but Iād bet itās not a BMW part.
Same thing for the wind covers on the grips.
Pretty sure this was a naked bike as far as BMW was concerned. The windscreen is likely just a bolt-on part and you could it off if you wanted to.
It certainly did.
Still way too hot but not much head buffeting at all
The grip wind covers are aftermarket definitely but seller said the screen was BMW supplied.
Who knows?
They work.
It came standard with no screen I know.
But like Harley, BMW will let you accesorize away to your hearts content.
Not as much as Harley but you get the idea. The only query was if it was a genuine BMW accessory or aftermarket.
I really donāt care, it worked very well on the 250 mile ride home so thatās the important part to me.
Looks like it is a genuine BMW one then.
Ace does not have the RT , his is the R, the RT is full fairing from the factory.
This is correct. Of course none of this matters - bikes are fun to customize / personalize.
Rās are naked roadsters and donāt have screens. RTs are touring bikes with fairings and screens. BMW typically sells several screen heights for the RTs and theyāre easy to swap (short, touring, tall). I donāt recall them ever selling screens for the Rs.
Ztechnik is a company that makes 3rd party screens. The site linked above (bmw-windshields.co.uk) is a 3rd party site selling 3rd party products.
None of this actually matters.
Like a dog with a bone this one gnawed at meā¦lol
Had to dig around the web but found a tasty forum called the r1150r.org which has a rockster sub section.
Confirmed that BMW did offer two windshield options themselves, sport and touring, mine looks like the touring.
Now these were made for BMW by another company (Wunderlichā¦yes seriously, lol) that also sold them under their own brand name for less money.
So mine could be either tbh.
The End!
Wunderlich are a well know company to me as well as Touratec both used to produce glossy and quite substantial catalogues , there is also Motobins.
I used to frequent the GSers site a lotā¦
This actually reminded me that I posted about my Speakers on that site (MBL)when I bought them .
