Absolutely right.
Iâve actually got FOMO about this
My friends rave about their QS (they practically play tunes just for the fun of it), but mine seems to be very inconsistent - maybe my expectations are too high. Maybe I donât ride my bike hard enough (BMW say above 4.5k revs - although the Yam ones seem to work any revs and any load) - I dunno
Shame, because when it does work on some downshifts, itâs quite neat - but often it just feels all wrong and that I might be doing damage, hence Iâve given up
I console myself by telling myself I prefer manually blipping
I have no knowledge or experience with any other QS, always considered it a gadget I donât need.
However I am very impressed with the one on the Kawagusta.
Not rolling off the throttle and just pressing the shifter down is pretty addictive.
And yes it brings out some of the forgotten hooligan side as the pops and snarls from the FMF zorst on these QS is truly hilarious .
I have even used it at just 3k revs and it seems to behave itself although the howl from this bike at 14k is something you just need to hear for yourself
Ooooh nooooo!
Thatâs not helping with my FOMO at all
Have a hard time believing that would be normal behavior, rather think something might be adjusted wrong or simply be defective - what does the BMW garage say?
And strange, also, because I had a test ride with a S1000XR a few years back, which QSed absolutely beautifully seamlessly smoothly at any rev, up or down - if I had the money, I would have gotten that bike just for the QS.
I had it serviced at Vines BMW Guildford a few weeks ago - they checked it after I specifically asked if it was working properly
âitâs working fineâ was the verdict
That doesnât help with my FOMO either!
Had to take the âtractorâ out today as it was sulking in the corner of the garage.
Bikes and ice cream are meant to be yes?
i had a Husqvarna Norden 901 with Quickshifter/Blipper for a few days
first hour, i reduced gas to shift and it was very clunky, no fun
then i remembered my dealer saying âshift in full revs, no problemâ
i did it and shifting was very smooth without reducing gas
When I got used to not destroying the gearbox, it was really fun
I wouldnât mind if my old 990 Adventure had that too
typical ice cream parlor racer
Beemers have a micro switch on the clutch lever which deactivates the shifter (apparently) so you have to be careful to not instinctively touch the clutch
Downshifts, one BMW staff said throttle closed, another slightly open - Iâve tried both, always mixed results
Upshifts at, say, 5-6k rpm it seems to work OK some of the time. I rarely, if ever, use full throttle. Itâll do over 70mph/112kph in first gear, so pinning it with the QS would be in banned territory very quickly (not to mention the wind tearing my head off)
Oh well
A very nice ride out this morning before it got too darn hot.
It was the turn of the Big One today, and everytime I ride it I askâŚWhy?
Why do I need any other bikesâŚlol.
Oh because I can , thatâs itđ
Anyway a visit to one of our regional parks, then I just fancied a donut, looks a bit run down I know but best Donutâs in my area by far!
Then to the St.Johns river with a nice breeze off it to help.
Another day another bike out for a ride.
Still on an ice cream and bikes theme, this time a Sonic got the nod.
Getting the miles up on the Scrambler
Heck I might even get to give it itâs first service this yearđ
That bike is a thing of beauty my friend
You are too kind sir but thank you!
I was talking about th bike and not you
Undoubtedly
