Showing (off) your Roon setup - description and photos [2015-04 .. 2021-03]

Quite a few updates here and there.
Also preparing for the late upgrade from a Full HD to a 4K HDR TV in the living room. The Raspberry Pi and LibreELEC teams rocked 4K HDR and HBR audio, split over the 2 HDMI outputs (my receiver is only 1080p) right in time!

The next planned upgrades are about replacing the stereo kits and speakers with Halcyon Acoustics active and streaming models in the living room and bedroom, get the cinema setup upgraded with an Atmos 7.1.4 kit (Halcyon Acoustics/Kralk Audio speakers, probably still a Denon receiver).

4 legged acoustical treatment? Looks like a woofer to me👍

You were lucky getting Kralk speakers before it all went bottom up. They have some great reviews.

Music Room: Intel NUC i7 + SSD for music → USB → Audiolab 8200DQ → Audiolab 8200P → Kef LS50’s plus a Linn LP12 for the old fashioned listening, and a Synology NAS for backups.
Lounge: Sonos Beam + 2xSonos One’s
Various Sonos units scattered all over the house.
Lucky me

Just curious, how do you like the KEFs compared to your prior Devialets?

A sad story for all involved…

I love them. They are well-balanced. Smooth. In control. Just ordered a KC62 sub to complete the package. The Phantom Gold were a little unruly in comparison: a bit harsh on top, a trifle overpowering down below.

Two things are rubbish: the wireless link between left & right is unreliable (but things have been rock solid since I wired them up) and the remote is a barely functioning sorry piece of plastic.

The app is great though: fast and reliable. And I love that the volume control sensitivity settings carry over to the app itself: I’ve got a proxy old-iPhone-on-a-dock set up as Now Playing screen, with a few ortho remotes connected via bluetooth. Their newfound sensitivity makes for very smooth volume control.

New addition to my vintage Technics gear:

  • Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra (replacing a Rasberry Pi)
  • Pro-Ject Accu Box S2 USB

You also see the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital, a miniDSP DDRC-24 with Dirac Live and my old (°1978) Technics SU-8600 integrated amplifier. The rest of the Technics gear is found earlier in this thread.

Old and new provide a very satisfying SQ. :sunglasses:

Is there any unexpected resonance with the LS50’s on the wood logs ?
