Is it zfs or hardware raid?
I’d opt for no raid if your running it off the motherboard hardware. If/when the board fails it could (more likely will) be problematic getting the raid to work on a new board.

Software RAID. I may change over to a off the shelf built nas box with SSD drives.

i just use a tape measure…it did make a big difference…I was way off doing it by eye…
