Showing (off) your Roon setup - description and photos [2023]

It is connected to the internet via the Verizon cellular iPad WIFI. It’s no different than what I do at the MIL’s house, just in the car. I can also use my iPhone and an iPad Mini 6 if I need more hotspot data from Verizon. My iPad 8th Gen is 4G and the iPhone and iPad Mini 6 are 5G, but all three work well using cellular data from Verizon.

Holy crap, You’re taking a huge gamble having the dartboard so close to a television set.

I was wondering where to place this post, here or in the ‘What are you listening…’. I deciced to place it here for the background of the webpage is a view on my livingroom audio setup. I managed to convert a Raspberry Pi to an Icecast streaming server recognized as a Roon Endpoint by installing Roon bridge on it. I now have 2 Roon Audio devices which I can use to play audio which is then streamed to the Internet using Icecast. On the first channel I play old offshore radio broadcasts I collected for years and on the second channel I play my own library shuffled 24/7 so I can listen while I’m at work. Great fun using for myself, my family and a close group of my colleagues.

Rather happy with a pretty comprehensive update:

  • From Focal Sopra 3 to Scala Utopia Evo
  • From Auralic Streamer and Roon Nucleus to Antipodes K50
  • And from Inakustic Power Station AC-3502 to StromTank S-1000

Mola Mola DAC and Monos plus Innous PhoenixNET stayed as well as lots of Inakustik cables for everything except LAN (Wireworld)

Cheers

Wonderful set, looks mighty impressive. I recon it sounds the part as well!!

I noticed you are an IsoAcoustics fan as well. Have you tried placing the Orea’s directly underneath your components chassis instead of the feet? It’s the way IsoAcoustics recommends using them. My experiencing is that this results in a much more stable configuration.

No, I have not - will give it a try. Thanks

The “cups” create a mini vacuum with the metal platesheets that way. Configured this way you will notice it will require a bit of force to actually “break” this vacuum pull and lift your components.

@Frank_Roesner

Those are wonderful wall hangings; they also help with acoustics, I am sure.

I think my system has changed almost entirely since I last shared it.

I am now running Monitor Audio Silver 200 6G speakers with an Exposure 2510 integrated which I just purchased. The DAC/Streamer is a Cambridge CXN v2 which is also my Roon endpoint.

The outgoing Audiolab 6000A will find a new duty in a second system.

Old Sopra 3 owner here :+1:. How did the stromtank affected the system compared to the inakustik?

The speaker upgrade happened sooner than expected. Turntable and T+A box 3 yet to come…

Slightly tighter bass, more relaxed top end in non-battery mode - this becomes a lot more noticeable switching to battery-only. And the system now plays always at the same high level, no matter the time of day

They look like Cornwall III, same as me

My streamer is a Metrum Baby Ambre, currently used with my old Arcam airDAC. Roon Nucleus for the Core. I’d like to try some other DACs this year although vinyl is my main source.

Cornwall III’s indeed. I got these at a very steep discount from a friend. I have to use the covers because kids, pets…

I had a Baby Ambre for awhile but it was picking up some sort of interference from my house. Every time we used the ignitor on our gas stove, the audio would cut out or if there was any sort of static charge when flipping on a light switch. I had an electrician come over and do an inspection but everything looked fine. I have a dedicated audio circuit as well.

That is a nice looking rack.

That sort of thing is annoying. And often hard to resolve.

The washing machine causes my system to make a sound a bit like a ground loop. I’ve had microwaves set things off too…

…I think I need a dedicated and electrically-isolated hi-fi retreat somewhere far away :palm_tree:

Added a couple new lights and new streamer and new Table since my last post. The streamer is a Zidoo Neo S and has surpassed my expectations as a high end streamer , just an all around excellent performer. Koa is my service dog and listening buddy :+1:

It’s been 3 years since my last speaker upgrade to PMC Twenty 26’s.

Now, the last and final upgrade happens next Saturday. Picking up these beauties, PMC Fact 12’s
