HaHa! I promised my Wife 3 years ago that those then were the final pair. I’ve always had PMC speakers and I can’t see myself moving away from this great brand. The next step up would be Fenestria at £60K and I really wouldn’t be able to get that purchase through the legal department!
An impressive set up and beautiful room. And a handsome companion with which to enjoy!
Define “final”.
Yeah, that’s what we all say… LOL
Thank You!
I’m of course only referring to the speaker upgrade.
I will be tri-amping in the not so distant future😀
If Koa is happy, everyone is happy…
Very true Indeed!
I am moving out of my much-loved apartment, because my partner and I are moving in together.
I always wanted to post my setup and the room here, so this is the last photo before taking everything apart and moving to a probably worse sounding place and I also don’t know if the neighbors there are as tolerant (or deaf?) as here
Gear list is in my profile:
Just three things I want to mention here:
- Switching from copper ethernet to optical fiber (single mode) was a very notable sound upgrade
- adding absorbers under the speakers decoupled them from the “moving” parquet and ended succcessfully my longing for subwoofers
- putting a blanket over the TV does not make a difference
Everything of course only in this setup and to my ears
EDIT: Actually I cheated, this is not the very last photo. The other one has the DAC upgrade, but the lighting in this is better
ENJOYING all the eye candy here. I love seeing gear and the spaces where we enjoy listening. I’m so interested to see more Devialet setups, especially Phantoms. I’ve posted mine earlier. I’ve new Phantoms in transit. Once they’re setup I’ll share. Cheers. Enjoy the music.
Het econaut…what did you replace the Yggy with?
The system looks sweet and hope it fits well in your new digs!!!
Cheers!
I upgraded from an Yggdrasil A2 to an Yggdrasil+ case with Less Is More analog boards.
And yes, it’s not a sidegrade
Yep I have the original Yggy with all their mods…but did not go for the LIM or MIL. I use HAF Convolutions for Room Correction and did not realize that their addition could possibly cause distortion with No Headroom added. I had a couple of albums that were exhibiting distortion on some of the passages. I though something might be wrong with my system. Although I have been a Roonie for about 7 years I had no idea about the Clipping feature on Roon’s DSP function. Ever since I learned how to set head room to avoid distortion generated with Convolutions, it’s damn near like I got a whole new system!
Do you have the Analog 1 (first version) or Analog 2 (OG) then?
I also use HAF convolution filters, but without additional headroom added.
As I understand an info Thierry of HAF sent me per mail he already adds -2 to -4 dB of headroom in the filters. But that was an info about the test track. I always thought it would also apply to the final convolution filters.
I’m pretty sure I have the OG…but now thinking…I’m not sure but I love the operation of what it does and how it works. It’s been back to Valencia twice is all I know…and it has been flawless during the time I have owned it and really enjoy the folks at Schiit! True enthusiasts!
Well all I know is that when I started using -3db in the DSP section the distortion I heard on a couple records disappeared…All you need to do is turn on the Red Light in the Headroom section…if your light never lights up you are good…I even had to add (subtract) a couple more DB to eliminate what I witnessed with the Red Clipping light… like I said it’s damn near like a whole new system…way cleaner and more powerful sounding…it’s really something through the whole audible spectrum…I wish Thierry would reply with more enlightening words… have you played with that clipping light?
You can check by serial number, the small sticker at the back:
If the serial # starts with a B, then you got a Yggdrasil Analog 2 (now called OG). A is Analog 1 (Yggy first version).
They started selling Yggy Analog 2 in late 2017 and announced them officially in early 2018.
I will check with headroom management when I have moved into the new apartment. Will have to do new measurements there anyway and let Thierry do the magic.
I checked the serial number and confirm that it’s an Analog 2 (OG)…your dates sound about right i started looking into Roon in 2016…
Ahah I added a blanket over the TV myself and my wife said it looked horrible and didn’t let me measure the impact on the RT60
