I did consider running a spur from the main fuse box to a dedicated 3000va transformer which would have been located in the fuse board cupboard, but decided to go with the BMU from Factor One. Similar costs too. The noise floor has definitely been reduced and certainly no DC anywhere👍
New speakers here…
Harbeth SHL5+ XD on Ton Träger stands have replaced the P3ESR XD. Big difference as you might expect.
Rest of system is
Bryston BDP-1USB endpoint
Marantz NA-11S! DAC (don’t use the streamer functions)
Denon DP-3000NE/Goldring Ethos for vinyl
PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter
Yamaha RX-A6A acting as preamp for stereo music
Ayre V-5xe
…and a bunch of AV stuff for movies.
I like the little tweeter group next to the sub.
Forgot to mention the PV-1D, which is hooked into the passthrough outputs on the power amp. Crossover frequency set at 42Hz for now, so all it’s really doing is helping out a little in Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony (and quite a lot with Yello and Kraftwerk I guess).
If I judge that it’s not needed for music I’ll hook it straight into the Yamaha for .1/LFE duties with movies.
Simple set with excellent sound.
Pre-amp streamer: Eversolo DMP-A8
Power Amplifier: Advance Paris X-A600
Speakers: Q-Acoustic Concept 50
Cables: Audioquest and Supra
Roonserver: Mac mini M1
Lovely, I like it. Clean and looks very straightforward. <3
Fantastic, clean, set up.
My away-from-home setup:
Dell XPS 15 laptop, i7, 32gb, 1TB SSD - Roon server and client
iPad Mini 6, iPad Gen 10, iPhone 13 Pro Max - 220gb Verizon 4g/5g hotspot data plus unlimited, throttled hotspot data using Speedify internet bonding
Raspberry Pi4 running RoPieee - Connected by WIFI
Chord Mojo 2 connected to RPi4 by AudioQuest Cinnamon USB cable
Focal Clear headphones connected by Moon Audio Black Dragon cables
Streaming from Tidal and Qobuz
SQ is great with Mojo 2 and Focal Clear headphones.
Tell me, Inspector Gadget, why the dual iPads?
His n Hers - saves fighting ???
More band width when using Speedify internet bonding. When one iPad is out of premium hotspot data (not throttled), it can then utilize unlimited, throttled hotspot data.
When both iPads are out of premium hotspot data, I add my iPhone to the mix and have three devices connected. I’ve even used four devices with three on throttled hotspot data and one on premium hotspot data.
Speedify allows you to chose which devices are primary and which are secondary. I usually set the throttled devices as primary to maximize their use. It’s just a way to squeeze more hotspot data out of Verizon.
That looks like a Cirrus 7 fan less case! I suppose Roon is running on it. I have wanted one for a long while but they don’t ship to the US!
It is Complete silent
Torben
I also have one and am very satisfied with it.
End of season rear deck audio upgrade.
The previous rear deck audio system was made up of a Google Chromecast Audio conneted to a Pyle Street Blaster boombox, which sounded way better than one might expect. When this B&O BeoPlay A6 wireless speaker became available on Drop at a greatly reduced price I picked one up to replace the monstrous Street Blaster. The speaker is sitting on a shelf I made to fit over one of our extra outdoor chairs. Next to the speaker is an Amazon Fire HD 11 Max tablet running Roon (remote). The BeoPlay A6 has Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay and Google ChromeCast. I am presently streaming from Roon using ChromeCast. The sound is quite good and makes sitting out the deck a very pleasant experience.
A wider view.
I ended up getting an Akasa Turing for a Ryzen tiny PC. Also complete silent, but not as pretty as the Cirrus 7.
Finally, something to show off…
When I was 18, beginning my audiophile journey, I went with my father to a guy who built and sold Focal Aria kits.
I was hooked on the speakers. He somehow convinced me to skip it and buy something else.
I wasn’t satisfied with new speakers. And the next. And the next.
The main issue I had with all speakers I owned was my favorite record store has Focal Aria 2 installed in one of the rooms. Every visit to the store brings back that dissatisfaction.
Last week a new entry was posted in Facebook marketplace, and 30 years later I’m finally a proud owner of a slightly banged up, but sonically very good, Focal Aria 5. They sing exactly as I remember them.
Now I only need to build a nice system around them.
Congratulations! You finally got them.
Bye-bye, Sonos! We welcome Dynaudio Emit 20 + 2x Topping B200 power amps + V70 Velvet DAC via USB to Roon Rock Intel NUC. I never thought sound could be so good, as I was really surprised how good Sonos Five and Sub are, but my current system sounds so much better that this is the complete end game for me.
I suspect you might be typing this again…
Have you tried the speakers away from the wall? - they’re rear ported (I think?) and might appreciate the space
