I have the usual optical point and a router in my living room. I purchased and added a 3-mesh system because one of the rooms gets weak signal. With the mesh system, we get 200-900 upload and download speed everywhere at home.
I don’t understand it too, perhaps my network does have a problem. As mentioned, the Z1+ can’t be found when I first connected it up. It was only when I thought of bringing a mesh to connect the Z1+ then it was found on my MacBook.
Every device and all equipments, new and old, have no problem connecting to my home network. The Z1+ is the only device that after plugging in with an RJ45 cable to my existing switch but my MacBook Pro can’t detect it.
Dear Faxe and Hans, thank you very much for your good advice. As Faxe suggested, I have contacted Silent Angel support. They gave me great support so that I was able to solve the problem. The cause was a recurring problem with devices with firmware version 1.2.4397. Silent Angel sent me instructions on how to reset the firmware to an older version and then update it to version 1.2.4397 again. I was then able to access the drive without any problems.
Hello fellow Z1 and Z1+ users! How is everybody doing? Still enjoying your music with the Z1 and Z1+? Made any discovery or setup upgrades to better the sound quality? Thought I keep this thread going and to hear from everyone. Any recommendations for me? I am a headphone user with a small collection of DACs, Amps and headphones.
I am looking at adding a pair of bookshelves or stand-mount speakers, probably to place beside my TV on the console. I custom-built a TV console spanning the entire wall where the TV is mounted, with one end being a full height built-in cabinet so there’s no space to fit in a pair of floor standing although I’d like it very much. I thought a good soundbar system should do it but what I have is bad for music hence, thought of speakers. With the equipments I have, I know I am not fully utilizing them now, I am too much of a tech/electronics dummy. I would like to be able to utilize my current equipments (DACs, headphone amps as pre-amps, etc… if possible for the speakers too but these are on a desktop rack in my room. Please share your ideas and suggestions with me please? For now, my setup and equipments are:
iPad Pro on WiFi > VitOS > SA Z1+ as Roon Server > DACs > HeadAmps > Headphones or M1 MacBook Pro using Roon to Z1+
Hi
I‘m very happy with my Rhein + as Roon Server as well. But I have an issue connecting ARC on my I phon to it. the local ARC connection test run fine, but my phone cannot connect. Any tips?
So sorry bothered you. I switched recently from Mini Mac to Rhein +. I adapted my router settings, that’s why the local ARC test succeed. But it seems that the ARC on my IPhone has still expected the Mini Mac. Now I uninstalled the ARC on my phone and reinstalled and the new Roonserver on the Rhein was found. All good noe
Can you imagine how the switching noise of the shipped switching mode PS coupled into the DAC? I mean bits are just bits. Maybe from the ground path? Do you think the linear power supply current capability may impact the performance? Here three linear PS are listed:
The iFi iPower X units cannot drive the Silent Angel Rhein Z1 so there cannot be any comparison.
In reviews (comparisons with other larger units like from Keces) the Farad came out best and was also by far the smallest unit.
The cheapest option is the original switching power unit provided by Silent Angel.
But that is no comparison.
I do not know about the iPower Elite. On paper it should work.
I also do not have the money for comparisons (I know of no shop that will lend it to me).
For me (and I cannot speak for other people) the sound opened up considerably with the Farad.
