Hey @Womaz,

Thanks for writing in!

We’re seeing frequent network related failures from a recent diagnostic report from your Nucleus. I’d simplify your network setup and get a direct ethernet connection from your primary router to your Nucleus as a first step.

Next, it may be good to test out performance around temporary library changes:

  1. If you disable Tidal, how do things run?
  2. How do things run if you disable your watched folders for your local library?

We’ll be on standby for your reply!

I am sorry but that first option of a direct connection from my router to the Nucleus is just not possible.

I went to quite a lot of expense and trouble to get the ethenet cables running through my garage to my switch when I moved in as I didnt have an option of moving my Router as it was a new build.

I will disbale Tidal when I get a chance, but cant see the point in that as I use Tidal exclusively.

I dont bother contacting support anymore as I just accept Roon is poor now. Its frustrating as I went to a lot of trouble 4 years ago to get my Network working just for Roon.

This time I decided to contact Support as I am just about ready to give up on Roon and use the native Tidal app instead as it just works.

We had a power cut last night and maybe that has affected things so we will see.
Sorry for the rant but Roon has been poor for me since the introduction of ARC, and I dont even want that option…so yeah this maybe my last attempt to get this sorted.

What I did when I moved in.

Hey @Womaz,

Thanks for the reply - so you are still using a long ethernet cable to an unmanaged switch? If so, that should be fine for proper connection.

From a recent diagnostic report, we’re seeing failed HTTP requests, to multiple upstream services including registries and authentication.

A few potential things to try out that may help network performance :

  1. review any router firewalls you have active and ensure your Nucleus and remote devices have proper access.
  2. Review the DNS settings for your Nucleus. Test out using more reliable DNS servers such as Google (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1)
  3. Disable any VPN or third-party security software temporarily that may be interfering with the connection.

Hi Benjamin

I appreciate your reply but like I say I am just fed up with constant poor performance with Roon, so I chose not to post for support now

The reason being it’s always the same answer - it’s a problem with my network

However ROON IS THE ONLY thing that my network has a problem with .

So I think that makes ROON a pretty niche product which needs constant attention to make sure it continues to run smoothly

Yes my nucleus is hard wired to the switch ……I mean what more could I have done ? I took a lot of time and effort to get this network all hard wired , and I did this solely to use Roon.
So my patience has finally ran out . I will use Roon until it becomes impossible for me to do so . But I won’t ask for any more support .

My apologies that you are on the end of my frustrations , my beef is not with you .
I don’t really have a beef with Roon as I have probably had my moneys worth out of it anyway , although I so wish I had not invested in the Nucleus . As it’s useless without Roon.

Like I say I have reached the point of no return with Roon.

Great idea which worked really well initially, then for me anyway since the introduction of ARC ,it just seems one issue after another.

I do thank you for reaching out though.
