Some FLAC streams removed

As posted here

JB Radio-2 is back with a flac stream.
Actually there are two flac streams, one with, and one without metadata. Unfortunately the metadata flac stream suffers from the same problem as described above, and Roon stops at the end of each song. However, for those who want the metadata url, it is
http://62.138.24.149:8000/flac1

Sorry, false alarm. @Larry_Post has pointed out the flac streams are different. Removed again until we understand better.

Apologies.

Re JB Radio-2, all streams are also dead now so Iā€™ve removed the station from the database for the time being.

Hi, a thousand thank you for developing the most insane player/streamer app on the planet, Thanks!
As long Roon for Windows exists I will surely pay my subscription.

JB Radio-2 flac stream (no metadata) back on air. Unfortunately their particular aac and mp3 streams wonā€™t work in Roon, so no metadata there either.

I configured a RSAS relay to get aac with metadata for JB Radio 2 (I like this station).

The flac/metadata Jb-radio2 stream has been off-air for a fortnight. Iā€™m hiding that stream for the time being, although I will continue to monitor daily.

Greetings,
May i let you know that we upgraded Mother Earth Radio a tad bit; we have a second FLAC stream, plus protected streams for supporters.
Mother Earth Radio HD (FLAC - 96k/24bit - IceCast no in-stream metadata)
http://server9.streamserver24.com:18900/motherearth
Mother Earth Radio mp3:
http://server9.streamserver24.com:18900/motherearth.mp3
Mother Earth Radio HD (rsas) (FLAC - 96k/24bit - RSAS with in-stream metadata)
http://server9.streamserver24.com:18800/motherearth

The metadata is accessible in several ways, i.e. here the json:
http://server9.streamserver24.com:9090/api/nowplaying_static/motherearth.json

I hope the new setup might be helpful for anyone who is interested in Mother Earth.
Thanks Brian for taking care of live radio btw!
best regards,
Florian

Hello again @Florian_Reiterer , Iā€™ve added the 18900 flac stream and the mp3 stream, but am having trouble with the 18800. Previously we had https://www.streamserver24.com/metafiles/motherearth.pls which contains your 18800 stream and that used to work - has something changed?

EDIT: running ffmpeg shows

$ ffmpeg -i http://server9.streamserver24.com:18800/motherearth -hide_banner
[ogg @ 0xab0d5000] Cannot identify new stream
[ogg @ 0xab0d5000] failed to create or replace stream
http://server9.streamserver24.com:18800/motherearth: Invalid data found when processing input

Ah, that is correct; hereā€™s the in-depth:
the RSAS stream on port 18800 used to carry ICY Metadata, and it does not do that anymore.
From our perspective rsas with in-stream metadata (not ICY) is way more compatible to a whole bunch of players out there.
The decision then was to offer an icecast stream for mpd and other clients that cant handle the instream metadata (see EOF-issue). This one is completely without metadata though.
To overcome this one would need to get the nowplaying API going. Or json:
http://server9.streamserver24.com:9090/api/nowplaying_static/motherearth.json

the ffmpeg output does surprise me i must admit. you can check with VLC, foobar etc. they use ffmpeg libraries from my understanding and play this stream fine, displaying metadata and everything.

hope this helps. Hope roon is able to play the other guys? - oh, sure, with icecast you lost the metadata again - doh!
any chance to pull the json output?

EDIT: here the new pls http://server9.streamserver24.com:9090/public/motherearth/playlist.pls

I remember the metadata issues, and the fact that we ended up with RSAS because trying to squeeze metadata into a flac icecast stream doesnā€™t work.

However, that RSAS stream did have metadata and we notified people about it.

So it seems something has changed. Perhaps VLC is more forgiving than Roon, but the fact that ffmpeg complains is indicative of something not right.

That.PLS stream in your reply is not suitable for Roon because it contains different streams - i.e. they donā€™t all refer to the same audio. Furthermore, the RSAS stream is the last in that list so Roon wouldnā€™t choose it anywayā€¦

Pulling the json outout isnā€™t something Roon can currently do.

thank you, you are correct, rsas has now changed to in-stream metadata, before it was ICY-metadata protocol.
i can confirm the ffmpeg errors, thanks for the heads-up.
To achieve the most wide range of compatibility for FLAC streaming we need to stick with this iā€™m afraid.
Iā€™ll investigate a third stream (rsas with old ICY protocol).
At least the FLAC stream does play and plays continuosly without stopping at each track.
So maybe you can leave it in your database and someone might enjoy it anyway, but thatā€™s up to you.
best regards,
Florian

Yes, Iā€™ll leave the working ones in, and await your update when ready.

Regards, Brian

FYI. The 18800 stream does not work on Lumin native FLAC radio streaming, the 18900 stream does. Iā€™ll change the next Lumin firmware to use 18900.

Very appreciated, thank you!
May i ask, do you have the metadata out of that 18900 stream; title, artist, etc.?

Lumin currently does not support radio metadata outside of TuneIn yet.

Coincidently? the Radio Bluesflac rsas flac stream is also not playing in Roon (it was yesterday) and showing same ffmpeg problemsā€¦

Iā€™ll monitor.

@wklie , same for you?

Strange. Radio Bluesflac is OK now.

Lucifer fm radio is requiring authentication today. Iā€™ve left the station in the database for now but will continue to monitor. If this continues Iā€™ll remove it.

OK for me right now.
