Yes roon metadata is showin genres. Unfortunatelynjust on album level notbon song level. That would be a great improvement. Next to this i would like to be able to identify song types like slow jams, ballads mid tempo high tempo etc. Is this a new thought or haven’t I discovered this just yet.
Although they are not quite as versatile as genres, I think you can do much of what you want to do on a track level with Tags.
Yep, but with 60K+ it’s a bit laboursome.
You could place your vote for this feature here.
That said, I’ve been requesting this since 2016. I’ve lost all hope it will ever happen. The closest thing Roon has done is to allow a ROONTRACKTAG to be added (via 3rd party tag editor, I use mp3tag) to the track file meta data.
I’ve done this so that I can sort/play tracks by genre, but it was quite a bit of work. Also, in some cases, Roon doesn’t like it if you use the same genre name in ROONTRACKTAG as is listed in Roon’s genres. For example, if I use the ROONTRACKTAG Pop/Rock, Classical, or Chrismas, Roon gets confused and won’t display them properly. In my case, I used Pop Rock (no forward slash), Classical_, and Christmas_ (note the underscore at the end) to get around this issue.
Roon is album based and has stuck to its guns on this, for better or worse (worse, IMHO). At this point, it will be a miracle if we ever get this.
Roon do force their philosophy upon their customers, don’t they? See the buffering vs RAAT vs Network Perfection thread posted earlier today. At least they are getting kicked into a more reasonable stance by whomever at Harman manages their development. You may well get your wish: they swore a file browser was never going to happen, yet it was one of the first new features after the Koreans stepped on their necks.
I suspect someone high up at Harman wanted the File Browser feature, so that’s why it was added.
This and track years. The Roon developers have no idea how big my celebration will be.
Wow since 2016…well I’m sure the Roon developers would love to have an AI team building such a solution. A couple of years ago there was a solution available by a german company, forgot the name. But I’m sure if not Roon a competitive solution will build this let’s call it MOODS solution.
