Sound Quality Issues with Tidal and Qobuz Streaming (ref#6THM19)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

Tell us what's going on

· Dear Sirs,
I contacted you some days ago and I suspect that you did something, but the problem remains, the sound quality is very bad, Qobuz is much better, but still far from what it used to be and Tidal sound quality is a disaster, and songs stop playing after 30 seconds so I cannot use it.
My system is very good an when I reproduce the file tracks I have stored in the server they sound superb, but streamed music quality is much lower quality, and in the past the difference was really small.
Honestly I am very disappointed
I don’t need so much new features, I subscribed because of the sound quality and ease of use. Wadax say the server is perfect and the rest of the system is perfect too otherwise the sound of the files stored in the server would sound bad too but in fact they sound superb.
Please check my mails.
I also sent a description of my audio system and internet service speed is very good too (around 700 Mbps).
I need a solution, I’ve waited for too long already.
Thanks for your kind understanding of the situation.
Best
Luis

This happens if your Tidal account / your login isn’t working and all you get are free samples.

Check your streaming service logins in Roon > Settings > Services (log out and back in), and make sure you choose the high quality setting there.

You need to check your junk email folder in case Roon Supports replies ended up there.

Oh, this may end up in your junk folder which means you won’t see this :man_shrugging:

Hello @Luis_Dobarro,

Thank you for the detailed breakdown of your high-end system. Since your local files on the Wadax server sound “superb,” we can rule out your hardware and internal network as the cause.

The specific symptom of songs stopping after 30 seconds is a definitive sign of a subscription issue. Roon likely perceives your Tidal account as a “Free” or “Expired” tier, which restricts playback to short previews.

Please perform these two steps immediately:

  1. Check Subscription: Log into the TIDAL website directly to confirm your subscription is active and paid.
  2. Refresh Login: In Roon, go to Settings > Services, click Edit next to Tidal, select Logout, and then Log back in. This forces Roon to pull your latest subscription credentials.

Once you’ve done this, please also ensure your Streaming Quality in that same menu is set to the maximum available.

Let us know if the full tracks start playing after the re-login!
