I ordered mine off “the the” web site, the vinyl and the C.D. book version.
They were offering various bundles, a good chunk were sold out last time I looked.
Can I downvote for the foot pic:wink:
Any thoughts on this, just arrived here?
I was mighty disappointed by the digital version but haven’t made my mind up about the vinyl just yet…
Personally once I got over the mix and noise and just let the music do it’s stuff I rather enjoy it. I only have the digital album though. Interested if it is much different in sound
Would as well be interested how you judge the vinyl, @Mikael_Ollars.
To me, it’s overcooked, but it also pushes the albums context further. It surely has got more life and separation than the digital release, in my setup.
And, the packaging is a bit odd. The sleeve is really stiff cardboard and the inner sleeve is a glossy fine print with a picture of Nick, other side are lyrics.
Thing is, it’s a pain in the rear to try and get the inner sleeve back in without finger printing the glossy surface or creasing it.
Thanks Mikael!
Now, here’s something you haven’t seen in a while, i suppose:
It is in an excellent condition and sounds very, very inviting, cozy and… vinyl…
Nice one! Bet it sounds fantastic.
Do you lose the extra channels if listening in stereo?
There was CD-4 and SQ…something…in the competition between RCA and Sony back then. I had a setup for each, but as I recall, the second two channels (rear) were blended in when played in stereo. Each competing format used a different cartridge. I note that it is marked DO NOT OPEN so that the store would not use it as a demo. I believe that I used Advent speakers and Marantz receivers, but…then again…that may not be accurate. Going through all these albums is interesting .
This had all died out before I got into music, but it sounds like something I would have enjoyed if I had been a bit older.
Listening to Queen’s Greatest Hits on DTS 6 channel mix now and that is followed by David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust on ATMOS
