TIDAL hifi stream breaking up

I’ve been listening intermittently tonight:
“Ratatat” Ratatat - about 5:30 pm for a half hour. One or two stutters, but otherwise ok.
“Love Letters” Metronomy - from 10:20 pm for a half hour. So far, rock solid.

Edit:
“Working with Fire and Steel” China Crisis, breaking up and unlistenable at 11:03 pm
Went back and tried Metronomy again. First track “The Upsetter” was fine (very tasteful guitar solo too).
Tried Vivaldi - Mandolin and Lute Concertos -L’ Arte dell’Arco & Guglielmo. Listened for 20 minutes. One skip in first movement then fine.

Hi Guys,

I cannot load any Tidal Albums or playlists via Tidal in Roon, however playlists that I have created myself with Tidal content play fine (with the occasional stutter).

I’m in Australia, I have a PS Audio Direct stream DAC with the Bridge II - I have fantastic Broadband speed via Telstra @ 110Mbps+ most of the time. I have a business grade 48 port router, but still get the msg “Error loading page” “Reload page” when accessing Tidal albums or playlists…

I love Roon and the Tidal inclusion makes it complete - without Tidal, it’s a bit ho-hum.

I’d love to have a solution to this issue that many Aussies seem to be experiencing.

Cheer,

Malcolm

Tuesday 24 November.
Played Tidal through Roon for a half hour from 6:45 pm to 7:15 pm. No problems, rock solid.

Yes, apart from a few hiccups during the day, Tidal via ROON has been quite steady for past couple of hours.

Here’s hoping.

Some of the more trouble-inflicted folk on this topic seem to be in remote parts of outer urban or country Australia - I wonder if ISPs are more harsh there?

I’m in Richmond, Melbourne. ISPs are quite tough here !

Roon / Tidal is my dream hifi input… except there is no sound from Tidal
I am in Australia with Optus ISP. My issues with Roon / Tidal have been going on for months and I have never had a satisfactory service.

Using the Mac Safari web browser, Tidal performs much better, but not perfectly.

I note forum participants mention a Mac OSX app for Tidal. Where do you get this and how long has it been available? The regular Tidal email has not mentioned it to my knowledge.

This the the download page I get sent to here in the United States:

http://tidal.com/us/download

I can’t say where you would be redirected for Australia.

Also, I have used the Chrome browser to stream Tidal when I haven’t used the Tidal Mac OSX application. There’s a asterisk on the US/downloads page above advising that the webplayer only works in the Chrome browser.

Wish you the best.

Tom

Thanks, yes I noticed the fact that the Chrome browser was preferred.
At 7:30am in Australia
Roon / Tidal - Tidal is totally unusable
Tidal OSX app - better but still suffering stuttering and multiple long pauses
Tidal Safari Mac browser - almost listenable
I have not downloaded Chrome yet.

All too hard.

Where are you located Jeffrey and who is your ISP ? I started getting improvement after badgering iinet about Tidal. Asking if they support net neutrality can be good.

Sunshine Coast Australia. ISP is Optus

Tidal through Roon breaking up here in Melbourne again through iinet. 7:20 pm
“Bop Till You Drop” - Ry Cooder
Edit: Just one patch in first song, rest of the album was fine and All India Radio “Red Shadow Landing” is fine too at 8:05pm.

Played for an hour from 8:45 pm to 9:45. One patch of buffering in first song of Metronomy “Love Letters” about a half hour in, otherwise fine. Of course the buffering had to happen when I was showing off Tidal to my girlfriend. She was not impressed.

Today I am seeing a new issue with Roon+Tidal (Roon cannot identify Tidal albums added to library) however, the Tidal streaming issues seem to have gone, played about an hour worth of tracks (all of which used to stutter heavily) without any issues… I hope this is a good sign

Maybe the Tidal folks fixed the streaming but broke some integration point with Roon…

@thijazi Identifying albums is a new issue, see the Support forum. However, it appears to be fixed. I’ve just added an album and it was identified.

Cheers, Greg

How is the Tidal streaming for you today folks? I tried earlier in the morning and it was bad, however in the afternoon I played a bunch of tracks without a glitch (first time to be able to achieve this in weeks!)…

@Greg thanks for the note, just saw those other threads about the album adding issues…

This was posted on the Computer Audiophile forum tonight. It might be useful for those having issues with Tidal streaming.

"IMPORTANT PERFORMANCE UPDATE!!!

I am not sure if any of you already know this, however I have had some info sent back to me directly from TIDAL yesterday and it has successfully fixed my issues.

I have a 26mb/sec connection which is more than enough, however my songs were jumping, pausing and locking which was driving me nuts… Until now!

By changing your internet connection using the GOOGLE DNS SERVER, the data is sent and received much faster than a lot of the other DNS servers used by third party ISP’s.

Here is the information sent to me directly from Tidal - DNS server settings.

Hi Tom,

Thankyou very much for reposting that Tom. Lets hope it resolves some of the issues people are experiencing.
I’ve changed this on the computer running the Core, so far (7:30-8:30 pm) Tidal is solid. Fingers crossed.

Two days running, no hiccups at all, it used to be a case of not being able to play Tidal for even 5 minutes… I have been listening for hours (second day running)… Seems whatever the issue was, the folks at Tidal fixed it.

Tidal still solid here, played from 5pm for 90 minutes, no problems.
