This worked…thank you!
Good to hear! Happy Holidays
You are correct in your diagnosis.
For me I have a test laptop with macOS 15.1.1. In the majority of occasions (4 in 5) when I reboot the computer Roon cannot see my endpoints on the local network. Toggling off and back on all Roon entries in Local Network and closing roon server and reopening Roon solves the problem.
I also have my main Mac which runs Audirvana Studio on macOS 15.1.1, after a reboot (again about 80% of the time) Audirvana Studio cannot find any UPnP or Chromecast endpoints on my network. Toggling off and on the Audirvana entry in Local Network and closing and reopening Audirvana and they come back.
The same bug in both Roon and Audirvana? Not likely in my experience. On my main system when Audirvana Studio is denied access to the local network endpoints and I go to Local Network I can, rather than toggle off and on the Audirvana entry, toggle any of the other 3 application entries off and back on in Local Network (in my case, Capture One, CyberDuck or Wifi Explorer) and Audirvana regains access to my UPnP and Chromecast endpoints on my network. This confirms to me the issue is in macOS not the various applications as the service to permit local access appears to have crashed or stalled.
I have tried without any 3rd party security applications installed in case one of the startup items was causing the problem. However it occurs with no 3rd party security software installed as well.
Update:
I should add this seems to impact media streaming applications most commonly. I have seen reports on VLC and Plex. As an example a FAQ for Elmedia is included in the attached link
Very interesting, thanks.
Thanks for this link, saved me a lot of money!
Been having trouble with losing endpoints and that my phones sw can’t find the server. One thing I had totally missed was that my Mac mini should be connected with wire not wifi. Made the change last night and boom, everything seems to work flawlessly!
Now I don’t need to invest in a new home network. I have an Asus wifi 6 mesh system and always thought that was the weak link.
So, thanks again!
Hi Pontus, I’m glad Roon Lab save the day for you ! Of course every site (households) have their own network issues. this is in most cases the most neglected part. If your system is stable, here is a tip to improve soundquality for a few bucks.
My experience with a MacMini M2 16/500, by changing the pesky cable between your switch and the M2. (Firstly i thought is was nonsense) but a change of the standard UTP cable to a Cat8 UTP resulted in a wider soundstage and better separation of instruments.
The configuration i have:
[M2 16/500] <cat8 2mtr> [SilentAngelswitch 16ports]<[RJ45toFibre]>
<fiberoptic 50mtr>
<[FibretoRJ45]><cat8 0,25 mtr><[cambridgeaudio 851N streamer]
Brand: Sologic Cat8 cable 2mtr.
Brand: AudioQuest Cat8 cable 0.25mtr.
Brand: DigitalStrom Polymere Fiber Media Converter
Hi!
My home is a bit old andvthe former owner put in all the cables (in the walls). So, it’s a bit of work to change them.
I have 3 rooms with hifi gears so Roon is really helpful. Glad to see you’re also having a Cambridge streamer, mine is a CXN v2 which I’m super happy with. Then a Hegel for amplification and KEF R3 speakers plus a REL sub. #mancave
In my living room it’s a pair of KEF LS 50 W2.
Everything works just fine with Roon.

Yes me to happy with Cambridgeaudio. The 851W and 851N happily together playing ROON and Bastanis Speakers for pure listening.
For background music SONOS speakers are involved. a cinemaset Arc, ERA 300 and SUB, a few One’s and an oldie a cinemaset PlayBar, Play1
Here is where Homey home automation kicks in, it combines ROON with Tidal (or own library) to the room where you at, and depending what time of day and the mood you are in … while we are heading to Christmas all songs in background are related to Christmas …
Hi,
Thank you for all that, afraid it’s way above my head. I have my chromecast audio devices seen one day and not the next - with me changing nothing. I feel like giving up on Roon and wish it was as easy to do as Roon suggests. Thanks for your advice.
3 posts were split to a new topic: The periodic need to reboot a roon server is getting a bit out of hand
