I’ve been looking for metadata apps that might assist with unidentified Classical recordings and found Tonal. I’m trying to figure out what it does by sifting through the marketing-speak.
Does anyone have any experience of it ? Can we write the metadata provided to our own files ?
Like any other such attempts, the problem is getting a critical mass of involved users. Very unlikely it will take off with closed source data integration. If I had the time (I don’t), I’d be talking with Wikimedia Foundation about adding a lot more music metadata to Wikidata, much more likely to achieve critical mass. They’ve at least started… but still very incomplete.
I used Tonal and exchanged quite a bit with its developper (baoshan). Unfortunately Tonal is no longer being developped, which is a shame because the concept was great.
