It doesn’t look like they need updating. The Roon core seems to have setup the main location. It doesn’t fix the playlists though. The non tidal links seem to be broken. I will delete and rebuild them. It’s a shame the Mac mini doesn’t work but if the Innuos is more stable I should be better off than I was.
Is there any reason why you weren’t running the Innuos as a Roon Core to begin with?
Seemed like an expensive NAS as opposed to using it for its primary use.
Because I was told the Innuos wasn’t powerful enough. But it seems absolutely fine to me. Better actually. Apparently the only issue is using DSP while playing in multiple zones at the same time. Neither of which I do. Maybe 2 zones but never with DSP. If I ever want to play with DSP (and to be honest I don’t understand it) it will only be one zone listening. So for me the Innuos is a better solution.
Now I don’t know what to do with my Mac mini. I think I might relocate it to my study.
Hi @Robert_Borley ,
Thanks for the update. If the Innuous is working as expected, then you can continue to use it as your Server, though as you’ve noted it can lack the processing power for multiple zones/heavier DSP. Have you been able to correct the playlist issue when the Innuous is running the Server and is now everything working as expected, or are you still having difficulties?
The playlists are still broken. But I am trying to manually fix them. There aren’t all that many.
I have been trying to use roon in the kitchen Sonos (it’s a different zone to where the Innuos is). Even when playing on this single zone (Kitchen Sonos Playbar + Sub + 2 Play1 surrounds) in the kitchen only I am experiencing regular drops.
So Roon will not work on my Mac mini properly or my Innuos music server.
Hey @Robert_Borley,
Thanks for following up!
How are your Sonos endpoints connected? We do see the dropouts you’re referring to. These repeated playbar dropout traces from the Roon logs suggest that Roon is losing sync with the Sonos Playbar during playback.
Are all devices streaming over wifi? If so, see if you can update the wifi bandwidth to the 5 gHz band and test.
See if you can review your router’s settings and enable “Multicast forwarding” or “IGMP Snooping” if available.
We do also see Roon is transcoding a 24/48 AAC stream to 16/48, which isn’t heavy, but combined with network latency, can introduce instability.
It’s not so much a drop, but playback stopping altogether.
Playback wont restart until I manually restart it via the Roon remote.
This never happens with the Roon core on the Mac Mini. Both the Mac Mini and the Innuos are connected via Ethernet.
I haven’t requested or setup any transcoding.
Sonos is connected via WiFi and it is not possible to connect via Ethernet as it is part of a 5.1 setup.
Any advice would be appreciated because it seems like Roon has issues on anything I own even though it should work in theory.
Hi @Robert_Borley ,
Can you please let us know the exact local time + date + track + which core in use when you next experience this behavior? This will help us further pinpoint the issue in your logging. Thanks!
