Hello, my albums all contain multiple metadata that i can access on Roon but when i go to my library on Roon ARC and try to filter the albums it only suggests “conductor” and even this doesnt work
Thanks, I don’t “use” tags in Roon Arc, I’d just like to be able to filter the albums in my library. But when I try to I only see “conductor” as a filter, and when I click on it I get a message that says no album corresponds to the selected filters. Screenshots attached
Thanks for sharing screenshots. The screen above is not a Filter feature, but rather “Focus,” which relies on tags. Based on the screenshot, the “conductor” field is a tag manually created in Roon, although it’s likely one you’ve created inadvertently. You can double-check by opening Roon and viewing the Tags browser directly.
Considering your broader question, allow me to expand on my previous answer. Filtering is not currently a feature within ARC, since it doesn’t share the granularity of the browser functions available in Roon. This means you can’t filter you Album view in ARC, you can only sort it by the fields available in the dropdown.
If you rely on Tags for custom curatorial indexing in your library, then you can use this cross-indexing to create “Focus” views in ARC. That’s what your seeing in your screenshot, but it’s a different feature from Filtering.
Many thanks for your reply, i will check and remove the “conductor” field in Roon.
Regarding the filtering vs sorting features in Roon ARC, I’m surprised as the app mentions the words “filters” and “Tags” (in French on my version) so why can’t i filter the albums based on one or several tags ?
And if this isn’t possible how can i then sort the albums by tag since the tags don’t appear ?
Many thanks
We can switch to French if that’s easier to clarify this topic.
This is absolutely possible in ARC, although it’s referred to as “Focus” rather than filtering. If you have created Tags and applied them to your Roon library, you can use those to view cross-sections of the library by tag.
Let’s investigate why Tags aren’t appearing in your case. Please share a screenshot of your Tags page in Roon itself (not ARC).
Thanks for the screenshot. The “Tags” you see there are actually part of the Roon Focus feature, they are not tags that you have created. If you click the Tags dropdown at the top, you should see that there are none visible. As @connor mentioned earlier, Focus in ARC is not currently the same as it is in the Roon app, there is a feature request topic that you are most welcome to submit this feedback to, our product team keeps an eye on the feature requests section:
Hi @Arnaud_de_Fontgallan,
No problem! If the thread happens to close while you’re away let us know you’d like to reopen it and we’ll get back to troubleshooting with you.
HI, coming back on my issue. When I click the Tags dropdown, I see “classical” which is the “genre” tag as a shared tag (which I can’t see on Roon ARC and it’s precisely the one I’m looking for. When I click on mine (Arnaud) I see conductor while I can’t recall I ever created this on Roon but every file I have in the library is properly tagged with multiple tags.
I’ve created the tag “classical” in Roon and all the tracks that have this tag under “genre” appear there. But the tag doesn’t appear on Roon Arc.
Also strangely, I can create this tag under “my Tags” but when I go to “Arnaud’s tags” I try to create it but it doesn’t appear
We’re going to try to reproduce this issue in-house using a copy of your Roon database. Can you please (at your convenience, of course) navigate to the folder containing your RoonServer database, zip up (compress to .zip) the entire folder named RoonServer, and upload it here?
Hello,
i’ve tried this but the issue remains. Also FYI, all my files are tagged (with JRiver Media Center) and all have a tag “Date Imported”. On Roon I chose the tags from the file but when I try to sort my albums by Date Imported the order of the albums had nothing to do with the tags
Thank you for taking the time to share additional information. This issue is under investigation by our QA team and development. We’ll share updates here as they become available, along with any next steps or workarounds we can provide.
Within ARC, navigate to Settings and disconnect from your RoonServer machine. Then reconnect to the machine immediately. As long as you are running the most recent production build of ARC, you shouldn’t lose any downloads stored locally on the phone during this process.
Please let us know if your tags are then properly displayed in ARC.
Our QA team is using the database to reproduce the issue internally in the meantime. Thank you!
