Describe the issue

Unable to sign in to Roon using Roon ARC

Describe your network setup

1x UniFi UXG-Pro
1x UniFi Enterprise 24 PoE
1x UniFi Enterprise 8 PoE
2x UniFi U7-Pro

When signing in with Roon ARC, the process is stuck and eventually renables the sign-in button, regardless of whether I’m using WiFI or 5G. There’s no adblocking and no VPN enabled.

Roon indicates that port forwarding is setup correctly:

Managed to login somehow after a while. Now Roon ARC can’t connect to my server (over 5G). Weird because the server itself indicates otherwise.

The internet thinks the port is open:

Als an issue is can’t sign in with tailscale from rock web page so arc can’t connect either but facing SA,e issue as Bart can’t get the roon login credentials with arc on WiFi or 5g either. The button does nothing

Rebooting Roon Server and reinstalled ARC didn’t make a difference.

Some additional network details:

  • single (non-isp) router
  • public static wan ip
  • dns server: 9.9.9.9
  • no vlans involved

Same here…reboot no help

Firewall reports succesful port forwarding to Roon server. Both for requests coming from Roon’s cloud infrastructure running on Google (34.96.49.136) and my 5G mobile (119.234.32.60):

Clear your browsing history and perseverance is key here.

A few others have experienced this.

What exactly are you talking about? If you’re refering to being unable to sign in, that’s been resolved. It would be nice if you actually read through the issue instead of blindly replying.

@wizardofoz are you also using Apple devices?

Does appear to be an Apple biased issue in my view.

I did.

My reply relates to both initial sign in and the Arc showing it’s failing to connect.

Having had similar issues for nearly 5 years I feel my advice is good advice.

Perseverance is key.

Plus, it’s seems more prevalent with iOS devices in my experience.

I also have a full UniFi network and can confirm for you it’s not your network causing this.

I’ll play along. I’ve cleared all histories and cache of the browser. Third-party cookies are not blocked, cross-site tracking is allowed, and there’s no ad blocker enabled.

That said, Roon ARC uses the browser to sign into my account. It does not use the browser to connect to Roon Server.

I’ve had this exact setup working a couple years back. Then decided Roon ARC was still immature. Just trying my luck again, but it seems things have gone backwards.

Ok, keep trying to connect. When this last occurred with me it took about 5 attempts. It seems a iOS related bug as on Android I rarely had sign in/Arc connection issues.

The irony of it all is: if I enable a VPN connection to my home network and use Roon Remote, it just plays music to the phone. And the client would be on a different subnet than the server!

Yep, I can do the same.

I have the exact same issue. Using ARC a lot and now it isn’t working…
I am on android though…

Figured I try a popular suggestion:

  1. Create a Backup of your current database (if possible/Roon is accessible)
  2. Stop Roon/RoonServer
  3. Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  4. Find the folder that says “RoonServer” and “RAATServer”
  5. Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” / “RAATServer” to “RAATServer_old”
  6. Start Roon/RoonServer

=> Roon ARC still can’t connect to the Roon Server.
