Unidentified albums not tagged as 'Unidentified' on Album page (ref#TATQ1F)

What’s happening?

· Something’s not working in the Roon interface (buttons, displays, lyrics, etc.)

Describe the issue

When I set the Focus function on My Albums page to “-Identified,” all my unidentified albums (a significant number) are correctly displayed. However, when I select any unidentified album, the Album page for that album does NOT tag the album as “Unidentified.” This is true for all unidentified albums in my local library. The screenshot shows a home-brewed CD in the library, which is clearly Unidentified, but the “Unidentified” tag is missing from the info displayed on its Album page.

Describe your network setup

Comcast cable modem (~940Mbps download speed); eero routers (~2 years old); Araknis switches (~9 mo. old); local music files stored on Mac Studio 8TB SSD.

This was a bug recently but it was fixed in an update. What’s your Roon version? Ensure you have the latest

Roon version 2.64 (build 1646) production. I believe this is the latest.

Huh?

I looked at the updates going back to Dec 2025 and don’t see any mention of this being fixed. Did I miss it?

I think I remember this issue being reported before, but I never noticed a fix being released.

Like the OP, this is not fixed for me and I’m on the latest versions.

Edit: Here’s the post I remember seeing. There was no response to it.:frowning:

Thank you, @Saturn94 , for highlighting this. Indeed after @ivan posted on this topic ( [Ticket In] "Unidentified" Not Showing for Albums - #11 ) 19 days ago that „there is a fix in the current Early Access build, but it has not been released to production yet“, I was hoping it would be resolved in the 2.64 production release of Roon Server/Roon Remote 2.64. However, this is not the case. The malfunction still prevails.

Thank you for pointing out that thread (perhaps that’s the thread I actually saw before?).

Hopefully, it won’t be too long before the fix makes it to the Production release (I’m not interested in being an EA tester).

PS - If I remember correctly, I think @Suedkiez is on EA, which would explain the mention of it being fixed. My apologies if this is incorrect.

They rarely reply in Feedback but it was fixed at least in Early Access:

There was this post in EA, which was 20 days ago and applied to Build 1644,

As Production is now at B1646, it should be included, I think. It was indeed not mentioned in release notes, but there is always the “various fixed and improvements” in the notes.

There also have been a few cases of someone missing it in recent days, I told them to update, and they answered that this fixed it :man_shrugging: There is also this:

Hm OK, then maybe the fix was not included in Production after all, but then why did some people reply to me that updating fixed it, instead that I’m full of s**t … weird. Are your remotes up to date, too?

The Roon app on my iPad and Mac are also at the latest release level, if that’s what you mean by “remotes.”

Weird.

Both my Roonserver and remotes are on Production build 1646, yet the issue persists, just like for the OP.

I’m fully up to date production , I never use EA versions

Its showing now , I was never aware it was missing but I have <100 unidentified albums

EDIT it’s now missing , I sceenshot another album for the other thread and it was showing - ODD

I have looked through a sample of my few Un ID albums nd it’s missing

OK now I’m really confused :face_with_spiral_eyes:

so am I , I have just looked at a few un ID albums and it’s missing but early on I managed to screenshot an album where it was showing. I have since deleted that album and cleaned up so I can’t reproduce it

By the way, it seems that freshly imported unidentified albums are shown as such for a few days. Only after that period the „unidentified“ tag disappears. This seems to be how the bug works.

That may figure , the one I screenshot was imported yesterday and deleted today

Something occurred to me , I wonder if the new scheduling has anything to do with it . The album I screenshot was imported only that day and would not have gone through a “maintenance cycle” overnight. Maybe it does a check for ID and marks the album as ID’ed in error.

The worry is is flagged as ID’ed Roon will no longer try to ID , that may be a mixed blessing !!

All my other non ID’ed albums don’t show “unidentified” but they do show in Focus as Unidentified which implies the db value is correct so it must be UI issue ?

I think I read that imports/adding doesn’t wait for the cycle but is analyzed immediately.

Yes, this was always the case with this issue and known since the moment it was discovered: [Ticket In] "Unidentified" Not Showing for Albums

Anyway, there is a fix in Early Access, don’t worry. The only question is when it will be merged into Production, so I‘d say wait until the next Production update before panicking. (After all, the latest update B1646, was an emergency update for the Qobuz issue).

Hi @Charles_Craiglow,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! @Suedkiez is correct in that a fix is over in Early Access, and should be included in an upcoming Production update.

We very much appreciate your patience in the meantime! :folded_hands:

OK. Thank you.

Hi @Charles_Craiglow,

Thank you for your patience. Just to reiterate, the team has prepared a fix for this but it’s currently undergoing testing. You can migrate your server and remotes to the Early Access branch to participate in early access testing by following these instructions.

Otherwise, we will ping you here as soon as the fix has been included in a Roon public update. Thank you!
