What is the best tablet for use with Roon?

I should also add, that I purchased the following case for the HD10: ROISKIN Case (for 2023 HD10, Gen.13) 360 Rotating Kickstand & Hand Strap for $21.99.

Its cut-outs (for On, Vol. mic, etc.) and overall fit are excellent. The case seems to be quite robust in terms of protection. No screen covering/protector comes with the case. But I’ve never needed to use one, with any of my many similar devices over the years.

As a fan of a hand strap and kick-stand for such devices and its aforementioned attributes, this case is a winner!!

Another Thread Specifically Re. Fire HD’s
In case anyone was searching for Fire HD info., or inexpensive Roon remotes, I thought linking the two threads may be as helpful to others, as it was to me. And bring both them more up to date as far as the 2023 13th Gen. Fire HD10 is concerned.

Does the iPad min 6th gen (latest model) display Roon in both portrait AND landscape mode?

Should do. My VERY old one does

I needed a new multimedia tablet to replace my old failing one. After a bit of research, I finally decided on the new Lenovo Tab Plus. A recent device from this year (so I can expect to make the most out of the limited support time / live-span) – see also the Product Specifications Reference page for all the details about the currently available models. It can even function as a bluetooth speaker for other devices – the tablet sound doesn’t match a good dedicated speaker but is for sure the best I’ve heard from a tablet so far.
As mine is meant to stay at home where content can be streamed, I had no need for a lot of storage space and so I went for the cheapest offer.

How are you finding using the tablet, as it has earned some very good reviews.
I bought a Pixel tablet with a big Google discount about a month before I first heard about this tablet and started hearing some very good feedback from people who had used it.

I am very happy with my Pixel tablet, but I would probably have looked at one of these if I hadn’t gotten that offer.

No navigation buttons, not even virtual software buttons, came as a surprise for me (can be changed if needed). I had first to figure out how to do what the buttons did in the past. I like it, leaves the space of the display for content (also no issue with apps behind or before the virtual buttons). The display is glossy, so had some issue seeing it good outside today in the bright sunlit day but I’m sure the old device hadn’t done much better (wasn’t a mate display either). Power seems to last much longer than on my old device – even when new. As can probably guessed from the picture, the tablet’s main orientation is landscape.
I’m still in the days of setting everything up but no real complaints so far. I also hardly felt the need to change any default settings. Is it that Android (14 comes with it) has matured, did the apps mature, is it the manufacturers tweaks? Mayne / likely all of it a bit. I have a harder time to find and order all the needed cables (I have to do the switch-over from micro USB to USB C).

Once you get used to the newer navigation controls, you never want to see the old ones again

Luckily I have been all USB C since I owned the Pixel C and iPad Pro and that has been 7 or 8 years

One Roon Remote setting that you might want to change is:

Settings → Setup → Keep screen awake → Yes
(the default setting is No)
