Great! I am a bit jealous I have to admit. I discovered the band back in the mid 90s when they released their first EP. Unfortunately I never got the chance to see them live (I don’t know if they ever toured in Europe)

Yesterday I went out to catch Phantom (MEX), Poison The Preacher (COL) and Atömic Seasön (AUT) in a very small venue called Cafe Carina.

Atömic Seasön kicked things off with old school thrash metal. The guys are about to release their debut album in the very near future.

Next up were Poison The Preacher. The Colombian crossover band released a few tracks/singles a one album up to now. A cool mix of hardcore and thrash with some infectious groovy parts.

Mexcian band Phantom were headlining the evening. The band is playing old school speed/thrash metal since 2022 and released their latest album a few weeks ago.

Very nice evening :sign_of_the_horns:

They are a great band to see. Always a fun show. They’re from Southern California but play around the San Francisco area where I live quite often. I’ve seen them 8 or 10 times by now.

They do a tour of Ireland every year and invite people to come along with them. I believe Keith said they are going again in November.

Huush in my village tonight. Incredible energy, even though there were only about twenty people in the room.

Mickey Dolenz - 60 Years of the Monkees

Great show, and his voice is still quite good for a guy in his 80s. Lots of good stories, too.

The Flaming Lips in Cardiff, Wales tonight.

First concert here in over 30 years and it was a great night out. Crowd aged from 8 to 80 and from all walks of life.

I saw Dream Syndicate in 1984 at DC’s Warner Theater opening for REM. Had fourth row seats and it was, by a wide margin, the loudest concert I’ve ever attended.

I think they were pretty good, but jeez.

Brandi Carlile (with opener I’m With Her) on a wonderfully cool Central New York evening at the Constellation Brands Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua, New York. Easier to call it CMAC. My wife and I were on the lawn and it was tough to see anything, but the sound, artists, and company, were excellent.

Yesterday I saw The White Buffalo at WUK, Vienna (Local support: Reverend Stomp). I only know his 2012 album “Once Upon a Time in the West” and never saw him live so I didn’t really know what to expect.

The show started at 8pm in a crowded (but not packed) venue. Reverend Stomp was a pleasent surprise and a very nice opening act. The band released two albums and an EP so far and play a mix of surf- and garage-rock with country/blues elements and a distinctive vocalist.

After a 30 minute break including the most boring songs ever being played from tape Jake Smith aka The White Buffalo finally appeared on stage. He was joined by multi-instrumentalist Christopher Hoffee and drummer Matt Lynott. They played a great set with an impressive amount of songs and energy. The crowd was cool as well and it turned out to be a very nice evening.

Germany‘s indie darlings, Tocotronic at Waschhaus Potsdam outside of Berlin, yesterday. After some bad thunderstorms and trouble even getting there because the trains from Berlin were effed, some head scratching on a wet open air stage:

Here we go, 1.5 hours too late past 9:

A short intermission to fix the bass that kept cutting out all the time and the generally bad sound on- and off-stage:

Now with good sound, we were sure they would have to stop by 10 because of noise and neighbors, and indeed by 10:15 they said „one more song“.

But the audience kept screaming and refusing to leave, so they came out again for 3 more, and then 3 more, and eventually 3 more until 11:15. I imagine there were furious backstage phone calls between venue and police.

I went out yesterday to catch a few local bands at this years Volksstimmefest. The two-day festival started back in 1946. The name of the festival was deduced from a newspaper of the Communist Party of Austria.

First band I saw was the punk/punk-rock band ZAK!

Next up was neo-psych/garage-rock band Topsy Turvey. Very nice set. I think I’ll see the band again early next year at a small festival I am planning to go to.

Afterwards I went to a different stage and saw Rahel and her band. Nice indie-rock/pop.
