Not sure my 30kg + tt would agree with a wall mounted bracket without some serious additional bolts and maybe I would still not trust it

My T/T has been on a wall mounted shelf for 20 years or so and is around 30kgs .

There is only one better way to play your records than wall mounted.

If the record player is mounted outside of your listening room and you have your butler put on the records you want to listen.

I bought my first turntable in 1956, a primitive one box music maker.
I bought a stereo console in about 1965 with a radio and turntable inside.
I bought a Bang & Olufsen Beogram 4004 in 1978
I bought Rega RP 40 Anniversary in 2013 because audiophile types suggested I could do better than my Beogram 4004
In 2023 I had my Beogram 4004 completely rebuilt. I much prefer its automatic operation and I love its tangential tonearm and overall appearance. But after all that I seldom play vinyl. I prefer the convenience of streaming.

do you still use a B&O cartridge, or one of the Soundsmith recreations?

I strongly considered adding a new cartridge to my expensively rebuilt 4004 but in the end I decided to wait to see how often I would play vinyl. It turns out not very often. Which means I can’t justify spending money on a supposedly better cartridge. The fellow who rebuilt my turntable prefers a German company for a replacement cartridge and an audiophile I trust says he didn’t like the way the Soundsmith cartridges sounded to him. I found that quite suspect considering how well regarded is the Soundsmith reputation, but considering how infrequently I play vinyl, the cost of a new cartridge and a question about where to go I decided to stick with the stock cartridge, it is still perfectly okay.

Are you sure cause and effect are correctly attributed here?
A good, well set up cartridge might push the listener towards vinyl, while an old and perhaps detrimental cart/needle might affirm negative feelings towards the medium…

Just speculating, happenings rarely have but one cause and one effect.

Ditto here on Mikael’s comment

A good speculation. I wish it might be so. However, In my case I think I’ve just been badly spoiled by the ease and convenience of Roon! Besides, much of my record collection has been duplicated and/or supplemented by a very generous fellow I met on another forum who used the wonderfully well regarded Pacific Microsonics gear for his high quality dubs.

The usual reason my 4004 gets some use is when I have company. Then I really enjoy the ritual of finding something interesting to listen to and dropping the needle on.

My new Ayre DX-5 DSD SACD player is similarly neglected in favor of ease of streaming.

Lovely record! How’s the new TT treating you?

I like the turntable. My schedule does not permit significant music listening, but the equipment is there should I have the time. Thank you for asking.
