Who has a turntable in their setup?

Vinyl still rules in my place!

Custom Built Thorens TD150 Mkii, Silvernote Saturn Tonearm, Goldring E3 cartridge, Litz Wired to Rega Phono Mini 2 Stage or direct to Roksan Kandy amp.

Sounds incredible even after 50-years!

Look like wing mirrors to me…

Hi Dr A,

Have you made a purchase decision yet? Interested to see which way you go. FWIW, I have a Techinics 1200 Mk4 (picked up when living in Japan), with an Ortofon Black (MM), into a Rotel preamp. Pretty happy with all of that, esp. the Ortofon – I’ve worked my way up their MM catalog, and think the Black sounds great.

No experience with belt drive, but to @anon55914447’s point, the 1200 never gives speed problems. And it’s solid.

Good luck.

Looks great

In looking through the vinyl collection it takes me back to where i brought the particular record. My systemdek has been with me from college (the only bit of kit not to get stolen as i guess the burglars didnt know what it was). Due for a rewire soon.

The home made stand is just about finished now with the isolation feet added. But always more to play with.

I had been thinking of the VPI Scout. Shall let you know.

Just 1 TT here, and a pretty basic one at that -Clearaudio Emotion Second Edition. Cart currently in use is a Nagaoka MP500.

I recently added a Parks Audio Puffin into the chain. I still use my Lounge as a preamp then run the Puffin in line for its DSP features. I split the output from the Lounge to I can completely exclude the Puffin from the chain with a click of my remote and just listen via the Lounge to Parasound. Having that choice is really nice, but I mostly just keep the Puffin in the chain since it is so versatile.

I’ve been fiddling with my turntable set up recently so will post an updated pic soon but in the meantime I’ve bought a Project VC-S2 record cleaner.

I have inherited my dad’s collection which is largely jazz and blues with some rarities - not necessarily valuable but rare blues in particular. Also a fair chunk of classical and a smattering of ‘pop’ (in the very widest sense).

Trouble is a lot of the records got damp and the sleeves rotted into the disc so whilst the vinyl is largely in good condition the records needed saving.

Boy is this machine is good. Follows a quick before and after photo. 90 seconds a side including giving the clean fluid a minute or so to dissolve the crud. Unbelievable results and with new inner sleeves and some nice clear outer sleeves to protect what’s left of the covers the whole collection will be restored.

Makes buying charity shop specials pretty much risk free also. Ok it won’t help with actual scratches but other than that records are restored to almost as new.

that’s impressive.

It really is. I was umming and ahhing about investing in one but was trading my Naim ND5 XS2 in and got one of these as part of the deal. And it is so straightforward to use. If you’re into trading vinyl too - I mean what difference to the grade on the Barbeque Bob has that made?

It’s gone from unsellable junk to VG+ or maybe even M-. I am not selling my collection but I can at least listen to it!

Blue Peter Badge to you AndyR.

They are MGA wing mirrors!!! Make great little enclosures with some bitumen damping inside to stop them ringing like bells.

I had something very similar… except in my case there was only one and it was attached to the door of my Alfa…

Here is my Linn LP12, it sounds better than anything digital IMOE.

I think I have centered on a VPI Prime w/10" arm as my turntable.

Where did you get those record racks from, did you make those as well?

ClearAudio Concept MC with an Arcam rPhono is my humble record rig.

BEAUTIFUL! :grinning:

Yes. I had some wood left over from our old deck which was 20 years old so decided to make the crates and the racks. It planed up well - iroko
