I have exactly the same issue, intermittently. The zones are restored after rebooting.
Hi @Greg_Lazin ,
I split your post into it’s own thread so we can investigate this further. Can you please share a few screenshots of what this looks like on your end? Do you by any chance have any VPNs running when this happens?
I’m not sure what to take a screenshot of. I have many zones. Most of the time (>90%), I can see all the zones. Periodically, while I am at my computer, (named Office), Roon will disconnect. I have to then go into the Audio settings and re-enable. Then it will work again for a while…
Hi @Greg_Lazin,
I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
A post was split to a new topic: Roon Zones disappearing intermittently
2:32 pm today, after returning to my computer, Roon had deleted zones.
Hey @Greg_Lazin,
And which machine was running Roon Server? We’re seeing a few different devices. This in itself could also be causing you issues, as you should only have one server running at a time within a single network and license.
We’ll be on standby for your reply. Thanks!
I run Roon Server on a separate solid state drive on my Qnap NAS.
Hey @Greg_Lazin,
It appears that you still have multiple servers running at the same time during playback. Could you provide more information about this?
Can you provide the specific zone names as well? We’re not seeing anything specific within your initial Roon Server diagnostic. Thanks!
All day long Roon has been refusing to enable zones that have been deleted. I have removed the Roon Server from another device, and have reinstalled Roon Server. The problem seem not to be related to running Roon Server on different machines, but seems to have started with the next to last release. If you log on now, you can see the problem…
When I try to enable a zone, I get a message that says “Enabling…”, but it doesn’t actually do anything…
Hey @Greg_Lazin,
My apologies for any confusion here -
Without knowing which machine you’re using as your Roon Server, the TS team is left guessing which machine to enable diagnostics on. On top of that, we’re then blindly reviewing diagnostic reports in hopes of finding the errors you are experiencing.
With this said, could you please be more specific in your setup when you experience this issue, and please refrain from moving across different Roon Server machines while we continue troubleshooting? There are currently three different machines that were all active within the last few hours.
From your QNAP machine running Roon Server, we’re seeing when the system begins connecting to the OPPO UDP-205 at IP address 192.168.0.119
, followed by a timeout that occurs after the system doesn’t receive any data for over 10 seconds, forcing the connection to terminate. We’re also seeing other devices showing different IP schemes potentially.
As a next step, I’d confirm that your Roon devices are on and stay on the same local subnet within your network. Multiple subnets aren’t supported in Roon, unfortunately.
I’m not trying to be difficult; I’m a novice user. I have 1 subnet, and RoonServer installed on my server, and on a computer. I can’t figure out how to uninstall it from the computer.
I switched between RoonServers trying to figure out why I’m having problems.
If you can tell me how to remove RoonServer from my desktop, I will.
This has only been an issue since the update before last.
Today, again, Roon disconnects at about 10:50 my time, and won’t let me re-enable my Office zone. Please fix this, or tell me how to revert to Roon before the last 2 updates…!
The Roon control app and the Roon Server are installed from one installer package. You can’t uninstall just one of them. However, you can stop the Roon Server from running.
On Windows, right-click its indicator icon in the notification area of the Windows task bar:
Thank you!
Hi @Greg_Lazin
Which of your servers did this happen with? Once you let us know this we can look into the diagnostics on that machine with the timestamp you have given us and start to troubleshoot this.
I am only using LazinServer3. I have stopped using any other RoonServer.
Hey @Greg_Lazin,
On your windows 11 machine, can you confirm Roon is listed as a proper exception within your windows firewall? Here’s more info on this:
If you temporarily disable the firewall, do you experience the same issues?
I will be away from the computer until October 16, and will not be able to do further diagnostics.
