Description of the issue

This is indeed very frustrating to start with. Im finding so many bugs and reporting one by one. Here is my second one.

I have the list of scanned inlays named as shown below

Eventhough I have the folder.jpg file in the same directory and the %_covers% tag has the same image burnt to the flac files, the album art in Roon shows “AUDIO CD COVERS_000081”.
This is the case for any folder which has scans with naming following the patter “AUDIO CD COVERS *”.

Description of the issue

Anotther frustrating bug for the day.
I add an album to Roon, by copying it to the Storage folder which Roon is watching for updates.
As Roon takes a lot of time to show up the album I do a “Force Rescan”.
Evethough I do this for every album I add when navigate to the album, and click through the images, not all images located in the same folder as the flac files show up. I have to again click the 3 dots, Edit, and do a “Rescan album” for the images to show up.

Eventhough I do this at some point in time the issue re-occurs.
I did an entire re-scan of the library yesterday to fix the issue with junk metadata showing up (Old Metadata still showing up in roon), this still didnt fix the issue.

Finding issues one by one Im losing my faith in this s/w :frowning:

Before doing a rescan of the album

After doing a rescan of the album

Is Roon expecting the users to do this every day??

Roon’s album artwork algorithms tend to pick the highest resolution image in an album’s directory as the image to show…I recommend giving this thread a read:

You could also scan the images into a booklet.pdf

This might also help generally:

Hi @navihane,

Thank you for your post. We can very likely sort out why Roon is favoring this image in all cases and find an easy correction or workaround.

As mentioned above, Roon’s album artwork algorithms are based on both nomenclature and the quality (size) of the artwork file itself.

Please share a screenshot of the Edit Album dialog window for Irvuvar & Rangeela by A.R. Rahman by navigating to “…” → Edit Album → Album Artwork tab.

Also upload a copy of the artwork file itself, AUDIO CD Covers_000081.jpg, along with the preferred file, folder.jpg, to our uploader here.

Thank you!

Hi @connor Thanks.
Here is the screenshot

I have also submitted all the files from the folder

Thank you @navihane.

We’ll investigate this issue with our QA team and respond as soon as possible.

Hi @navihane,

The technical support team is investigating related issues with this same database that involve the underlying local files and metadata you’ve described.

For brevity and to expedite investigation, I’m going to merge this report with your other report concerning local artwork ingestion in Roon. We’ve requested relevant files and diagnostics and will respond there.

The heavy-handed workaround would be to refresh the database entirely, but as mentioned, this will require re-import/re-scan and recreation of your Roon custom settings. It will, however, completely delete the ingested library objects and re-assciate them with the current metadata and file structure.

We can’t be sure this will resolve the issue until we’ve reproduced with QA using the local files you’ve supplied. However, here’s the process:

  • Exit out of RoonServer
  • Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Reinstall the RoonServer App from our Downloads Page to generate a new RoonServer folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database
  • Try restoring an available Backup. See if Roon’s handling of metadata or artwork changes.

Hi @navihane,

Our team is busy investigating the database you provided. Thank you for your patience and we’ll provide a more verbose update as soon as possible.
