· Today my roon rock and android app upgraded to version 2.70. First the room rock core and everything was working perfectly. If anything, on my relatively small library everything became faster and smoother. Then I upgraded the android mobile app to 2.70 on my Xiaomi 13t pro and scrolling on any menu started stuttering quite badly and going into endpoint settings would crash the app. Tried clearing the cache and data on the phone, reinstalled the app, cleared cache on the rock. None of the above helped. In the end I installed 2.67 again on the phone and it is working perfectly. Again.

· Fritzbox 7590 router to openwrt the one router running as a dumb openwrt wds wireless and lan switch. Roon rock on a nuc 13i3 is connected to the openwrt one. The openwrt one then streams directly to the wds endpoint. Never had an issue with this setup in the past.
Hi. The update has a bug. I am experiencing the same behavior. The app crashes after updating remote, to 2.70. Going into Roon and clicking on anything causes the app to crash. Asus router to TP link switch to Rock on NUC11i5. Samsung S26 used as the remote. Rebooted the server caused no change.
Weird. If it happens again please ping me. This was a very substantial change to the mobile app, so I’m trying to pay close attention to any issues that show up.

I also encounter the same issue. I tried, as @Douglas_Henning suggested, to restart the phone (a Samsung S22 Ultra), but afterwards it still crashes. And the Roon Remote App is also very slow since the upgrade to 2.70.

I don’t know whether this is related, but I found the Android app on my Lenovo Chromebook behaving oddly after the update, with heavy flickering and a top bar on the display that shouldn’t have been there. (I know Roon is not officially supported on ChromeOS, but it’s usually fine.)
When the app updated it asked for Notifications permission and, without thinking, I denied it. After a bit of poking around I found that this was the cause of the above misbehaviour. After re-enabling the Notifications permission I found that a restarted app stopped the horrid flickering and the extraneous top window bar vanished. The process is reversible/reproducible.
Like I say, it may be irrelevant to this case but there does appear to be some interaction between the new Android app and the Notifications permission which could be detrimental.

I think you nailed it. I also, as I always do, refused the Notifications permission for Roon Remote.
Now I enabled them for Roon Remote, and it seems that Roon Remote is working at normal speed and is not crashing any more. Be aware, this is only a test of a few minutes. But the crashes were that often before accepting the Notifications, that I have the feeling that it is now OK.
Question to @Stephen why is it proposed to accept or deny the Notifications in Roon Remote, when the app is not able to run correctly without Notifications?

Honestly, I’ve very curious why that should make a difference. That is really bad. I’ll dig into it today.
@ExitMusic I have some code that should significantly improve the feel of the scrolling. I just haven’t had a chance to really test it. Maybe we can get those in “soon-ish” if it works correctly.
Hi Guys, My Samsung A35 android phone keeps crashing after about 20 seconds since the recent roon update. What can I do? I have tried restarting the phone and this makes no difference. Many thanks.
Hi, thank you for the tip. I reinstalled the 2.70 app, allowed notifications this time. So far no crashes even when in audio device settings. Like others have mentioned, this solves the crashes but the stuttering when scrolling through menus is still there and very annoying.
· After an update this morning (to version 2.70, build 1671), the Roon app on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ tablet has the inconvenient feature that it auto-closes after a few seconds. Uninstalling and re-installing the app has no effect. Rebooting the Nucleus has no effect.
The app on my Motorola (android) phone does not have this new feature.
