Artist Equivalence Issues

Thank you!

Sweet Billy Pilgrim’s album Twice Born Men also has the band Billy Pilgrim connected to it. Billy Pilgrim have no connection to the album.

I have two bands in my database, Chvrches and CHVRCHES which need merging in your database to be a single band. Interestingly they each have their own different picture.

It looks like these errors never got fixed.

I have “Dave Brubeck Quartet” on their album The Crossing, and “The Dave Brubeck Quartet” as a separate group for all the rest of their albums.

Also what constitutes an “appearance”? Dave Brubeck only seems to make an appearance on a couple of his albums with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, yet is similar albums like Time out are directly attributed to Mr Brubeck.

Can you be more specific Robert?

In some cases, you may need to select the discs in question, press edit, and choose Re-Identify, but if you give me some examples of what you’re seeing, I can take a look.

Both of your reports were weird data issues – thanks for the reports! I just dealt with the orphaned Brubeck Quartet, and CHVRCHES vs CHVRCHΞS.

If you don’t see these resolved automatically in the next 2 weeks, follow my instructions above:

Thanks again!

I forgot to quote from the relevant message above. I’ll do that now.

This problem still hasn’t been fixed since the January report.

I have two instances of Lauren Shera as artist, names spelled identically?

Above window represents track metadata from 3 different albums. As can be seen artist, performer an albumartist are the same yet Roon shows two artists by same name, one with two albums, and the other with one.

I have Dame Joan Sutherland as an artist as well as Joan Sutherland (eg the album Songs My Mother Taught Me). my tags are clean so this must be being picked up from the database.

Apparently Boston has two symphony orchestras called the Boston Symphony Orchestra. One was founded in 1881 and the other more precisely on 22 October 1881.

Just seen that Boston is not alone. Birmingham (England) has two City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra(s), both founded in 1920 and conducted by Simon Rattle for a while.

[Edit] I also have two orchestras called “The English Concert” conducted by Trevor Pinnock; and two orchestras called the “European Union Chamber Orchestra”, one of which makes an appearance in the main ones grouping but not vice versa. [/Edit]

Another jazz orphan. I have six albums by “Cannonball Adderley Quintet” and one (Accent on Africa) by “The Cannonball Adderley Quintet”. The latter is correct, I think.

Neither group have photo or biography but given the change in composition over the years I don’t see this as a huge problem. Nice to have, though.

Thank you.

Through the Gs now.

John Eliot Gardiner is the same person as Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

Not sure whether it’s easier for Roon’s metadata gurus to get these one at a time so they can cross them off, or en masse and run the risk they miss one of the edits in a large list. For me it’s easier one at a time as and when I find them.

Anyway, I have two Guns N’ Roses, with the subtle difference that the band who perform on “The Spaghetti Incident?” have a slightly curlier apostrophe than the ones who perform on all the rest of their albums.

Hi,

I have a few albums by a great Aussie rock band called The Radiators, but the bio is for the USA band -

These are the albums I have for them -

How do I fix this please ?

Thanks

I have two ensembles called “I Musici” both formed in 1952.

I have two Eric Johnsons on the same album:

The second link goes through to an “orphan” performer with the same name. He also appears on Neil Young’s Monsanto Years as a performer. Apparently he did the lettering…

“Katia & Marielle Labèque” are the same as “Katia and Marielle Labèque”

There’s an R. King in your database who should be Robert King the conductor of The King’s Consort.

Whilst on the Kings, “Dame Thea King” is the same person as “Thea King”.
